We are seeking an Editor-in-Chief for the Police Authority's employee magazine Svensk Polis as our current editor is retiring. The magazine is distributed to all employees and is published four times per year. Parts of the content from the printed magazine are also distributed externally via www.tidningensvenskpolis.se The Communications Department coordinates the Police Authority's communication and provides proactive strategic and operational support to the entire agency. The advertised Editor-in-Chief position reports to the Editorial Group and the National Communications Section, located in Stockholm. The section is responsible for communicative and media support to the Police Authority's national departments in alignment with police regions, and for managing the agency's printed and digital communications across both internal and external channels. The Police's social media accounts have over 5 million followers. The magazine Svensk Polis is a strong internal channel that aims to: - Provide police employees with tools to become even better in their professional practice. - Contribute to a good culture and increased pride. - Convey the message that all different professional competencies are needed - regardless of where in the country or in the organization one works => Together we are one police force - Through meetings with employees, explain and clarify management decisions and strategic directions within the agency. - Contribute to external and internal monitoring of issues relevant to the police. As Editor-in-Chief, you will be part of the editorial team, which consists of writers, web editors, and social media experts. The team is responsible for developing editorial communication tailored to target audiences and channels; news evaluation, publishing, image management, accessibility adaptation, magazine production, and feature production, social media moderation, etc. The team works closely with colleagues from other groups within the Communications Department and also participates in the department's news desk function. 1 position(s). WORK DUTIES The Editor-in-Chief's task is to plan and - in collaboration with colleagues - produce the magazine from start to finish. This includes selecting topics, angles, editing, headline writing, writing news items, and coaching writers. Most of the magazine is written by others while the Editor-in-Chief's task is primarily to create the overall whole. The role includes responsibility for our production process including coordination with department managers and others, ongoing contact with printers, writers, photographers, and other parties relevant to magazine production, as well as responsibility for budget and a number of administrative tasks related to magazine publication. QUALIFICATIONS This is an opportunity for you who have: • a degree in journalism or communications or other higher education that the employer deems relevant • at least five years of current writing experience within editorial communication (storytelling or journalism) • several years of work experience in magazine production in the role of responsible Editor-in-Chief or equivalent editorial role with overall responsibility for a printed magazine and/or periodical publication • work experience in editorial management and budget responsibility that the employer deems relevant • several years of work experience in text processing that the employer deems relevant • good knowledge of Swedish It is advantageous if you also have: • work experience with employee magazines or other publications that the employer deems relevant • work experience in editorial work at a communications department within public sector activities • current work experience working with editorial material across multiple communication channels that the employer deems relevant Personal Qualities To succeed in the role of Editor-in-Chief, we are looking for someone who enjoys collaboration and who is self-directed, responsive, and creative. You need the ability to prioritize and work at different tempos simultaneously: that is, handle immediate issues while working methodically and systematically with upcoming content.
