Would you like to be part of leading and developing patient safety work within Region Jämtland Härjedalen? We are seeking someone who wants to work as a Chief Physician based in the Division of Medicine, but who together with other Chief Physicians and the patient safety coordinator in the region coordinates healthcare-wide patient safety and harm prevention efforts. You will be employed as a Chief Physician by the Division Chief of the Division of Medicine and have your primary appointment in this role, but you will combine it with work in your core specialty, research, or other activities. Together with the patient safety coordinator in the Division of Medicine, you will support leaders and staff in patient safety work to ensure safe, accessible, and secure care. You will support leaders in maintaining proactive patient safety efforts and will also be available when serious incidents occur. You decide on and when reports under the Patient Safety Act (Lex Maria) should be filed. If a report concerns your closest colleagues, you will seek help from Chief Physicians in other divisions. Of course, you will also be there when your colleagues need similar support. The overall patient safety team consists of 6–8 people who meet on fixed days to handle issues that are common throughout healthcare. During 2025, a regional LSG Patient Safety group was established for internal patient safety matters. In addition to the patient safety team, the internal LSG includes Division Chiefs and the head of the HS department. If needed, a legal advisor will also participate. 1 position(s). DUTIES Chief Physicians provide medical and healthcare legal support to management, together with Regional Medical Officers and Regional Legal Advisors. As a Chief Physician, you work to promote a good safety culture and participate in preventive patient safety efforts. You have a clear operational connection supporting the Division of Medicine, while also maintaining important cross-functional collaboration in many overarching processes. Examples of Chief Physician duties include: • Introduce and train leaders and staff members who have special responsibility for patient safety work within the division. • Serve as method manager for, for example, Green Cross, RoK analyses in Patient Safety, and the incident reporting process including Lex Maria. • Conduct and lead major incident investigations involving multiple units (more than two and/or complex incidents). • Serve as the reporting officer under the Patient Safety Act (Lex Maria) within the Region. • Maintain ongoing dialogue with the patient board and IVO. • Ensure the preparation of a Patient Safety Report for the entire healthcare organization (analysis, indicators, activities). • Participate in the MLA network • Participate in LSG Patient Safety (for the entire county) • Participate in networks with other Chief Physicians within the Region, regionally, and nationally. • Acquire new knowledge in the field of patient safety at regional/national level. In addition to the Chief Physician role, one of the three Chief Physician positions will also include team leadership for the entire patient safety team (Chief Physicians and patient safety coordinators). For this Chief Physician, this means a total of 60% of the time (40+20%). Further details about the team leadership role will be discussed during the interview. QUALIFICATIONS We are seeking a specialist physician with several years of experience, with management and/or leadership experience being an asset. You also have an interest and commitment to care quality, patient safety, and development work. Knowledge/interest in risk and incident analysis work is meriting, as is experience working as an MLA/MLU or in another management role. We also value strong communication skills and the ability to adapt information and dialogue to different forums and audiences. We place great importance on personal qualities. We highly value your ability to act with engagement and drive, build confidence and trust, and express yourself easily both verbally and in writing. You enjoy working in teams and want to contribute to a good work environment. You have strong analytical skills, extensive clinical experience, and want to apply your judgment combined with humility in strategic patient safety work. Employment Type: Permanent position.
