The General Inheritance Fund inherits when there are no relatives. Our testators contribute approximately one billion kronor every year, which funds various inheritance fund projects. The Inheritance Unit's mission is to protect the General Inheritance Fund's rights by settling estates in a legally secure, cost-effective, and ethical manner with respect for the deceased. We also take positions on testamentary dispositions where the Inheritance Fund is the legal heir. The work at the unit requires a strong ability to manage your own matters independently, as well as the ability to collaborate and communicate both within the unit and with other colleagues at Kammarkollegiet.
Job Description
In your role as Head of the Legal Department, you will lead, develop, and coordinate the work and staff of the section. You will drive and develop work methods, quality assurance and follow-up work, and contribute to good collaboration within both the section and the unit. The section currently consists of 13 lawyers. The section's employees independently handle matters related to estate settlement and wills. You will supervise and quality assure this work. The role involves significant personal responsibility and considerable influence over how work is conducted. The operations are in an intensive development phase where we are developing both work methods and system support. You will play a driving role in this work.
As section head, you report to the Unit Head of the Inheritance Unit. You participate in the unit management group and are expected to actively contribute to the unit's overall priorities, resource allocation, and strategic direction.

We are looking for someone who has:
- An academic degree in law
- Several years of experience with qualified legal work
- Several years of current experience with management or leadership with personnel responsibility in public administration
It is meritorious if you have experience with:
- Work focused on civil law and inheritance law
- Leadership in government operations
- Systematic quality assurance and follow-up work
- Development and creation of work processes, procedures, and governing documents
- Audit and/or control work
- Crime prevention work
- Work in courts or from law firms specializing in family law

Permanent employment beginning with a six-month probationary period. The position is located in Stockholm where we are situated in activity-based offices on Slottsbacken directly across from the Royal Palace in Gamla Stan. Start date as soon as possible (by agreement).
