At the Migration Agency, we work on one of our time's major societal issues – migration. In total, we have approximately 6,000 employees here, and we have an unusually important job! Do you want to work in an exciting and developmental operation with great societal focus? We are now seeking a unit manager for our detention facility in Åstorp. At a detention unit, people who have received a deportation or expulsion decision and who need to be available for enforcement stay. A person can also be placed in detention if the right to stay in the country or identity needs to be investigated. The detention facility is a closed unit and operations run 24/7. The operation shall be designed in a legally secure, safe and dignified manner with the individual in focus. The detention facility in Åstorp currently comprises five units with a total of 78 places. The operation is expanding on October 1st through the establishment of a sixth unit, and we are now seeking a unit manager who wants to lead this new unit. Being a Unit Manager in Detention Operations As a leader with us, you work close to operations and in clear collaboration with other unit manager colleagues. In an operation that runs 24/7, extra high demands are placed on clear and consistent leadership, where all employees are anchored in our mission and thus our approach towards colleagues and detainees. To thrive in the role, you need to feel confident and anchored in your leadership and the decision responsibility it entails. You also thrive best when working in a team with your management colleagues to develop the operation together. Today we have approximately 200 employees in the section that manages the operation, handles matters concerning returns, and provides service and support. You have personnel, budget and work environment responsibility for a unit with approximately 25 employees and together with team leaders you lead and develop the operation towards set goals. You create conditions for a developmental and positive work climate and opportunities for employees to develop in their roles and carry out their assignments in the best way possible. You report to the section manager and are part of the section's management group. In management group work, you contribute to continuous development of the operation from the section's and region's holistic perspective. Who Are You? We are seeking someone who is a confident and clear leader with leadership characterized by a holistic perspective, communication and decisiveness. Your approach is unpretentious and is characterized by management's shared mission to create a well-functioning work environment where employees thrive and develop. You have a structured, efficient way of working as well as flexibility and the ability to see opportunities in change. You have very good collaboration and communication skills and understand the importance of good service and good conduct. As a leader, you are present and decisive in operations, with anchorage in goals and structure. You have good analytical and strategic abilities and work from the obvious connection between your own operation and the Migration Agency's major mission. You lead through courage, empathy and clarity. We are seeking someone who has: Academic education (minimum 120 credits) that the employer deems relevant for the position Management experience in public sector operations Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English It is an advantage if you have: Current management experience with responsibility for employees, budget, results and work environment Management experience from state operations Experience leading employees in 24/7 operations Experience working in closed institutions such as detention facilities, the Prison and Probation Service, the National Board of Institutional Care, and forensic psychiatric care Terms Form of employment: Permanent, probation may apply Working hours: Trust-based working hours Work location: Åstorp Start date: By agreement The Migration Agency conducts checks in the police's suspicion and criminal record register before making employment decisions.
