About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now seeking more staff members. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the cycle of crime. When we succeed, society becomes safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand facilities, and inmate transport.
Salberga Prison opened in August 2007, and the location where Salberga is situated has a long tradition of state operations. The Salberga operations area consists of both a prison and a remand facility with capacity in security class 1. The operations area has approximately 600 places in total. 500 employees and 27 managers administer, lead, and develop operations in Sala.
Job Description
Within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you work with a complex and important public mission where you can make a difference. As a leader, you help your employees achieve set goals in different ways within a rapidly growing authority.
As a manager, you lead, develop, and follow up on operations against set goals and provide support to your employees and management colleagues in daily work. Prison administration is teamwork, and you work with a good workplace culture, good working environment, and ensure that routines and work methods are clear and functioning well. An important part of your work is staying updated and knowledgeable about the laws, regulations, and guidelines that regulate the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's operations.
The role includes personnel, budget, and workplace environment responsibilities. You are part of the management group where the assistant prison director and your colleagues form an important platform for your leadership. Together, you and your colleagues are expected to take joint responsibility for both your own unit and the facility as a whole.

Qualifications
We seek someone who is good at collaborating and has the ability to engage others. You are clear in your communication and can adapt your message based on the recipient's circumstances. You are calm and professional even in demanding situations and have the ability to adapt to changed circumstances. In your professional role, you have an analytical eye, good problem-solving skills, and the ability to work with your employees to drive development and change initiatives within one of the world's best prison systems.

We seek someone who has:
Academic education or other education combined with work experience
Management experience (personnel, workplace environment, and budget responsibility)
Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written
Driver's license category B
It is also advantageous to have:
Documented leadership training
Experience working within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
Experience from multiple operations areas within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
Experience in authority functions, preferably within the justice chain
Experience in qualified security work
Relevant experience from other public sector operations
