About the Swedish Correctional Service The Swedish Correctional Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating existing ones, and expanding, which is why we are now looking for more staff members. We are the authority responsible for correctional facilities, probation services, detention facilities, and inmate transportation. Gothenburg Detention Facility is one of Sweden's five high-security detention facilities and receives detainees with restrictions. We are a dynamic and fast-paced operation where we care for both detainees and arrested persons in a way that safeguards legal certainty and integrity. Today we have 435 places for detainees and arrested persons, and we have an equal number of staff members in various positions who work daily with the Correctional Service's mission that is vital to society. Gothenburg Detention Facility is located in central Gothenburg and is easily accessible by public transport. As a first-line manager (Correctional Inspector), you will be part of a management team together with fellow managers, management support staff, and the Correctional Service Director, all of whom form an important platform for your leadership. As a leader, you help your staff equip our clients in various ways to manage a life without crime and drugs – what we call Better Out. As a manager at Gothenburg Detention Facility, the most important part of your work is being a present and accessible manager. In the role, you are also involved in developing security work and client-focused work together with your staff and share various areas of responsibility with your colleagues. As a manager, you lead, develop, and monitor operations while providing support to your staff in daily work. The role includes personnel, budget, and work environment responsibility for approximately 20 staff members. In this recruitment, we are seeking three fixed-term positions for Correctional Inspector at Gothenburg Detention Facility. The number of filled positions may increase. Start as soon as possible until March 31, 2027. Qualifications We are looking for someone who works well in collaboration and has the ability to engage others. You are clear in your communication and can tailor your message based on the recipient's circumstances. You remain calm and professional even in demanding situations and have the ability to adapt to changing conditions. In your professional role, you have an analytical mind, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to drive development and change work together with your staff within one of the world's best correctional systems. The role is strategic and sometimes operational as you become involved in operations-related matters with frequent shifts. It is therefore important that you can switch between different tasks and adjust when needed. This requires your ability to create structure and see results as well as exercise trust-based and close leadership. For us, it is important that you share the Correctional Service's fundamental values of a humane view of human beings, respect for the individual, and belief in people's will and ability to develop. You are also aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect you and others. Furthermore, through your approach, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally. We place great emphasis on personal suitability. We are looking for someone who has: • Academic education or other education combined with work experience • Management experience (personnel, work environment, and budget responsibility) • Good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written It is also advantageous to have: • Current experience working in the Swedish Correctional Service • Experience from multiple service areas within the Correctional Service • Experience with public authority work, preferably within the justice chain • Experience with change management and change work • Relevant experience from public sector operations • Experience managing 24/7 operations within care or custody • Knowledge of administrative law Other Information The Swedish Correctional Service has chosen to eliminate the personal letter and replaced it with selection questions that are relevant to the position.
