About the Swedish Prison and Probation Service The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating and expanding, and we are now recruiting more staff. We are the agency responsible for prisons, community corrections, remand facilities, and inmate transport. Community Corrections Mälardalen has operations in Eskilstuna, Nyköping, Västerås, and Uppsala. Here, approximately 250 employees and 11 managers work to reduce the risk of clients reoffending and thereby increase safety in society. Community Corrections conducts personal investigations and supervises clients who are conditionally released, under protective supervision, sentenced to community service, or monitored with the help of electronic monitoring/intensive supervision. Community Corrections also works with various treatment programs. Community Corrections offices are centrally located in each city. Job Description Within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service, you work with a complex and important social mission where you can make a difference. As a manager in Community Corrections, you have both an operational and strategic role, and it is important that you can quickly shift between different tasks and adapt when needed. The position is operationally close and includes, among other things, making decisions regarding our clients and supporting your employees in our complex mission. Community Corrections is undergoing a period of change that includes implementing new legislation and developing security work. We also place great emphasis on improving both internal and external cooperation. Our operations are growing rapidly and we face several challenging tasks that involve developing our operations, our organization, and collaboration with other actors. As a manager, you lead, develop, and follow up on operations and provide support to your employees in daily work. The role includes personnel, budget, and occupational health responsibility for approximately 15-20 employees who work primarily as corrections inspectors. You are part of the management group where assistant community corrections managers, the community corrections manager, and your management colleagues form an important platform for your leadership. You are clear in your communication and can adapt your message based on the recipient's circumstances. You are calm and professional even in demanding situations and have the ability to adapt to changed circumstances. In your professional role, you have an analytical mind, good problem-solving skills, and an ability to work together with your employees to drive development and change work within one of the world's best prison systems. The role requires experience navigating an environment with many demands, extensive regulations, and a need for cooperation. Experience leading operations in a dynamic and rule-governed context is therefore central. Of course, you have strong social commitment and you share the Swedish Prison and Probation Service's core values of a humane view of people, respect for the individual, and belief in people's will and ability to develop. You also have an understanding of how background, culture, and group belonging affect yourself and others. We place great emphasis on your personal qualities. We are looking for someone who has: Academic degree in behavioral science, criminology, law, psychology, or another social science subject Management experience (full personnel, occupational health, and budget responsibility) Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing Class B driver's license It is also meriting to have: Documented leadership training Experience with authority work, preferably within the justice system Experience with occupational health work such as systematic occupational health work (SAM) and organizational and social work environment (OSA) Other Information The Swedish Prison and Probation Service has chosen to remove the cover letter and replaced it with selection questions that are relevant for the position.
