Do you want to help shape the future of LKAB and contribute to some of Sweden's largest industrial and societal transformation projects? As Head of Social Sustainability and Permitting Strategy, you will have a key role in creating the conditions for future mining operations while contributing to sustainable development in the communities where we operate. Sustainable transformation starts with us We are facing our greatest challenge yet – ensuring that Sweden and Europe have what it takes to transform. So we can live the life we want, now and tomorrow. Just as we want to improve the future, we want to develop everyone who joins us on the journey, personally and professionally. Do you want to help lay the foundation for the life we live and that builds the world around us? Your role As Head of Sustainability and Permitting Strategy, you have strategic and tactical responsibility for securing and strengthening LKAB's social acceptance (Social License to Operate). You drive and develop initiatives that strengthen our permitting processes and elevate social sustainability to a strategic level. The role is exercised in a complex context where LKAB is driving some of Sweden's largest societal transformation projects. The development of mining operations, new main levels, and the ongoing societal transformation in Kiruna and Malmfälten place high demands on sustainable permitting processes, strong stakeholder relations, and long-term social acceptance with external parties such as local residents, Sámi communities, associations, and businesses. You will work closely with operations, management groups, and external parties to create conditions for long-term sustainable permitting processes and strong confidence in LKAB. The role has great strategic importance for LKAB and offers the opportunity to influence how we work with permitting issues, social sustainability, and stakeholder relations at the group level. The role reports to our Director of Sustainability and leads a team consisting of four strategists in social sustainability and three permitting strategists. Key responsibilities: Develop and implement strategies and approaches for social sustainability and permitting issues. Drive and develop LKAB's work on social acceptance, stakeholder dialogue, and Sámi community cooperation. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including CSRD, CSDDD, and requirements related to human rights. Build and develop relationships with authorities, organizations, Sámi communities, and other external stakeholders. Lead and follow up the department's projects, initiatives, targets, and key metrics. Monitor the external environment and translate new requirements, risks, and trends into business development. Develop routines and approaches that create conditions and enable good performance within the subject area. What you bring You are a confident and strategic leader who enjoys developing approaches and creating long-term conditions for business development. You have a strong ability to build trusting relationships and navigate complex stakeholder environments, both internally and externally. The role requires you to work closely with operations while maintaining a constructive dialogue with authorities, Sámi communities, and other societal actors. Your team is geographically dispersed across multiple locations, which requires present and engaging leadership. Requirements: University degree in a relevant natural science or social science field. Experience with personnel responsibility and leading experienced employees with specialist expertise. Several years of experience with strategic work in social sustainability and building and developing relationships with authorities, local communities, and other societal actors. Good communication skills in Swedish and English, spoken and written. Category B driving license. Meritorious: Experience with permitting processes, permitting strategy, and application of relevant Swedish regulations. Experience from industries with significant societal impact (e.g., infrastructure, energy, mining, urban development, or heavy industry). We warmly welcome your application!
