We are now seeking a Head of the Finance Section within University Administration who wants to lead and develop financial management for the university administration's shared operational support during a time of change and continued development. The role involves close collaboration with the leadership within university administration and provides an opportunity to influence how operational support is developed, managed, and monitored. About the Operation The Finance Section is organizationally placed within the Finance Department and consists of approximately 15 employees, including economists, controllers, and finance administrators. The section is responsible for financial support, financial monitoring, and finance processes for university administration. University Administration encompasses the university's shared support functions and is organized into ten departments with different operational areas. The operations are characterized by great breadth, many contact points, and close collaboration with the university's core activities in research and education. As of budget 2026, university administration has implemented a new governance and financing model, which means changed work methods, new forms of collaboration, and increased demands for strategic and operations-focused financial support within university administration. We are now seeking a leader who can contribute stability, structure, and secure leadership while driving the development of work methods, financial management, and operations-focused financial support in a complex and knowledge-intensive organization. Duties As Head of the Finance Section, you have operational and personnel responsibility for the section. You lead and develop the work together with the section's employees and are responsible for ensuring that financial support to university administration's operations maintains high quality and is operations-focused. The role involves close collaboration with the University Director, department heads, and the university's Finance Director. You work both strategically and operatively and contribute to the development of university administration's governance and finance processes. The role includes close collaboration with other sections within the Finance Department to ensure well-functioning and coherent processes for accounting, budgeting, and monitoring at the university-wide level. The duties include, among other things: lead, organize, and develop the section's work and employees, create good conditions for professional and operations-focused financial support, support managers on matters concerning finance, budgeting, monitoring, and operations management, responsible for financial analyses, forecasts, calculations, and decision-making materials, develop and quality assure financial processes and work methods, contribute to managing and further developing university administration's governance and financing model, act in an advisory and presenting capacity on financial matters before decisions. You lead a section with highly competent and experienced employees. The role greatly involves creating direction, structure, and quality through trust-based and clear leadership. Start date by mutual agreement. University Administration is consolidating its administrative departments and will move during 2026 to new premises at Rosenlundsgatan 8 in central Gothenburg.
