BUS DRIVER TRAINING AND EMPLOYMENT AT SKELLEFTEÅ BUS Want to change direction in your career and become a bus driver? Here's your chance to train with pay and get hired at Skellefteå Bus! We offer you 11 weeks of paid bus driver training where you earn your Class D license and professional competence certificate (YKB). After successful completion of the training, you'll be offered a six-month probationary period with the possibility of a permanent position. About Skellefteå Bus Skellefteå Bus operates public transportation in Skellefteå Municipality and also provides the hockey bus, airport bus, and school transportation services. Skellefteå Bus is one of the largest bus companies in northern Sweden with approximately 280 employees. Our fleet consists of about 140 vehicles and is being gradually updated to biogas or electric buses, with the goal of becoming completely fossil-free by 2030. The company is 100% owned by Skellefteå Stadshus AB, which is entirely owned by Skellefteå Municipality. What We Offer At Skellefteå Bus, we offer you the opportunity to train as a bus driver completely free of charge. The training lasts 11 weeks during which you earn your Class D license and professional competence certificate (YKB). Training takes place at Skellefteå Bus facilities with external instructors who teach partly online. You receive training wages throughout all training weeks. In parallel with the driver training, you'll complete an introduction program at Skellefteå Bus, where you'll learn about our buses, bus routes, and ticketing system. During this introduction, you'll also receive guidance from an experienced bus driver. Training starts in February 2027. The current starting salary for a bus driver is 30,000 kr/month. After the salary review in October 2026, the new starting salary will be set, which will apply when training begins in February 2027. In addition, you'll receive shift compensation. If you already have a Class D license but lack YKB, you're also welcome to apply. You're responsible for providing excellent service to passengers and ensuring that both passengers and other road users feel safe with Skellefteå Bus. The work includes responsibilities such as keeping to the bus route schedule, handling situations that may arise due to weather or traffic conditions, and selling bus passes and single tickets onboard. You need to be able to stay calm and make good decisions even when circumstances change. Our operations run during daytime, evenings, and weekends throughout the year. Working hours vary and the need for drivers is highest during morning rush hour and in the afternoons and evenings. Who Are We Looking For? To be admitted to our bus driver training program, you must meet the following requirements: You must be at least 24 years old (according to the Swedish Transport Agency's age requirements) You must have held a Swedish Class B license for at least two years You have good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form, as this is required to benefit from the training and understand instructions regarding traffic safety and regulations It's advantageous if you have experience with: Service work and working with people Theoretical studies or formal training Driving a car as part of your work As a bus driver, you meet many different people every day. That's why we're looking for someone who is service-oriented, confident, and professional in your interactions. You're welcoming and helpful and find it easy to meet people with different needs. You're responsible and meticulous about keeping schedules, and you have the ability to work calmly and efficiently even when situations change and the pace is fast. To obtain your Class D license and complete the training, you'll need to have a driving permit. Medical examination for the driving permit is arranged and paid for by us. Note! It's important to answer all screening questions in your application to improve your chances of advancing in the recruitment process. Good to Know If you choose to leave your employment within one year after completing the training, reimbursement of training costs will be made according to the collective agreement.
