The Fire Department Eskilstuna is part of the Community Development Administration in Eskilstuna Municipality. Eskilstuna currently has five fire stations with a total of 160 employees, of which approximately half work full-time at the main fire station at Sundbyvägen 2. In 2028, we are expanding with a sixth fire station. The Fire Department's overarching goal is to prevent and reduce the consequences of accidents so that Eskilstuna is a safe and secure municipality to live and stay in. Are you our new colleague? JOB DUTIES Working as a firefighter at the Fire Department in Eskilstuna means you get a broad assignment and a great variety of tasks. The work involves preventing and reducing the risk of fires and accidents, as well as minimizing the consequences of accidents that occur. A typical work week can therefore consist of practicing various procedures to maintain our capabilities, educating and informing the public, responding to traffic accidents, fires, cardiac arrests, drowning incidents and animal rescues, as well as maintaining and servicing vehicles and equipment. As a firefighter, you have the opportunity to develop our operations and participate in various work groups based on your interests and skills. In addition to the personal development you gain, there is also an opportunity for a career where experience and further education can lead to positions such as crew leader/group chief, incident commander/fire chief, or fire inspector. The Fire Department in Eskilstuna is seeking several firefighters who want to be part of the development of the firefighting profession and our operations. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for you who: • has completed approved SMO training or previous 15-week firefighter training at the start of employment. Alternatively, RiB firefighter with 5 years of experience and completed GRIB 2 or equivalent training. • has had at least 3 months of employment at a full-time station. • has valid fitness certificate for work with smoke and chemical diving according to AFS 2023:15. • is a swimmer equivalent to Guldbojen. • is an approved smoke diver according to AFS 2007:7 (Smoke and chemical diving). • can work in confined spaces and at heights. • holds BE and C driving licenses. It is also beneficial if you: • have good knowledge of Eskilstuna and adjacent municipalities. • have experience with full-time work at the Fire Department in Eskilstuna. • have a CE driving license. As a person, you are flexible, cooperative, and resourceful. You are confident in yourself but also thrive in a strong team, where collaboration and communication are crucial. Since the assignment involves many social contacts, you are outgoing and ideally have knowledge of Eskilstuna and surrounding municipalities. Duration: Permanent, start date: January 18, 2027 or by agreement. Working hours: Shift work. Rotating shift schedule - day, night, 24-hour shifts. Day: 10 hours.
