The Fire and Rescue Service is part of Luleå Municipality and has the mission to work to ensure that people living and working in Luleå are safe and secure. At the Fire and Rescue Service, we have approximately 100 employees. Our most common roles are firefighters, fire engineers, fire inspectors and case handlers. We respond to approximately 1100 alarms per year and are among other things a national chemical resource and have an agreement with SMC (Fire Suppression Central) to be able to handle fires in oil tankers. In addition to our own operations, the station also houses the ambulance service and SOS Alarm operations and serves as a joint rescue center for the 19 municipalities in Norrbotten and Västerbotten that are part of the Rescue Cooperation North. Being a firefighter in Luleå is a broad and varied assignment. Our distinct and changing seasons provide a natural variation in work content and the challenges we face. To keep pace with societal change and prepare ourselves for future challenges, we are currently transitioning to a 5-shift solution. Your tasks will include handling fires, various types of accidents and preparing, conducting and evaluating rescue operations. A large part of the work also consists of training, vehicle and material maintenance, accident prevention measures and physical training. We have good opportunities for training activities, among other things at the Fire and Rescue Service Training Center (RUC). Beyond these basic operational tasks, you will also, based on previous experience and personal suitability, be an important part in developing our operations within one or more of the following areas: - Training and education - Supervision and referral handling - Learning and operation evaluation - Fire and Rescue Service under heightened readiness (RUHB) The positions are full-time and shift-based with an average working time of 42 hours per week. We are planning a transition to 5-shift but other scheduling models can also occur if needed. Qualifications To succeed in the role of firefighter, good physical ability, swimming skills and interest in training are required as you will face situations that require good physical fitness. You also need a driver's license with category C (heavy truck) entitlement. You also need to be able to communicate fluently in Swedish, both spoken and written. We believe that you are a person with good ability to collaborate in groups, build trusting relationships and have the ability to adapt to different situations and contexts. As a firefighter, it is of great importance to get things done and act responsibly, both during alarms and in daily work at the station. Furthermore, you have good initiative where you can independently drive issues and work within various areas of responsibility. In addition to the above requirements, the following are meriting for the position: - Protection against accidents (SMO), GRIB or equivalent older training such as Full-time Firefighter or experience that the employer considers equivalent - Knowledge/experience in for example technology, IT, healthcare, government supervision or crafts - Professional experience as a firefighter We welcome both female and male applicants for the positions. Application Process In this recruitment, we will over two days test your physical ability and your personal suitability. Tests are conducted at our office at Brandgatan 3 in Luleå during week 39. Interviews are planned to take place during weeks 39 and 40. If you need to travel to us, we intend to coordinate test days and interviews to the same occasion as much as possible. Accommodation can be arranged if needed; any travel costs are your responsibility. Qualified applicants who are called to test days will receive a link in advance to upload results from a passed treadmill test (according to AFS 2005:6 §51) and a certificate for either lifeguard level 1 or gold beret. The certificates must not be older than 1 year. You do not need to send any certificates with your application; we will request these.
