The position is located at Lilla Stenstagården, a residential facility with special services for children and youth. The residence is situated north of Kristinehamn and surrounded by beautiful natural environments with proximity to forests and lovely walking trails. The residential form belongs to the functional support operations area, which is part of the Support, Care and Social Services Administration in Kristinehamn, where we provide support under the LSS (Act Concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments). The administration's core activities are to provide care, support and rehabilitation for the elderly, as well as provide support and services to people with disabilities. Always with the individual's needs at the center. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As a residential support worker, you become an important part of the service user's daily life and have the opportunity to contribute to a safe, developmental, and meaningful existence. You work based on clear implementation plans and use pedagogical methods to create structure, security, and development. In your work, you need to be able to meet situations where the child expresses strong emotions or reacts strongly to their environment. This may involve challenging and sometimes acting-out behaviors. Your task is to, with calm, respect, and a low-affect approach, create safety, prevent situations from escalating, and help the child regain control and balance. An important part of the role is building a trusting relationship and being a stable and present adult. You need to be able to read situations, adapt your approach, and find effective strategies based on the child's needs and current state. Clarity, responsiveness, patience, and a solution-focused approach are therefore central to the work. We believe that development occurs through daring to try, evaluate, and learn together. In your role you will, among other things: • create and maintain a clear and understandable daily routine through visual support, structure, and adapted activities • provide support in social situations, communication, and everyday tasks • work preventatively and use low-affect strategies to manage and redirect challenging situations • document and follow up on work based on implementation plans and set goals. Working hours vary between day/evening, night, and weekends. QUALIFICATIONS For you to thrive and succeed in this role, personal qualities and personal suitability are of great importance in this recruitment. You are a confident and calm person who can create structure and tranquility even when situations become intense. You need to be flexible at the same time and be able to adapt your approach when conditions change. You have an understanding of children's different circumstances and can adapt your communication and approach based on the individual's needs and situation. Since the work sometimes involves encountering strong emotional expressions and acting-out behaviors, you need to be confident in standing firm, maintaining composure, and working preventatively. You enjoy collaborating and see the value in how different experiences and perspectives can contribute to better solutions. You dare to come up with ideas and together with colleagues try new work methods, evaluate results, and further develop the operations. Beyond this, we see that you have: • education as a support assistant, activity leader, educator, nursing assistant, or other education within the field that can be assessed as equivalent • knowledge of intellectual disabilities and autism spectrum disorders • good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish, as language is our primary tool • a B-class driver's license, as activities together with the child are part of the work. It is an advantage if you have previously worked in a similar role and have experience with low-affect approaches, preventative work, and strategies for managing and redirecting challenging situations.
