Description:

Blekinge Institute of Technology is a place for curiosity and innovation with a campus in the heart of the Blekinge archipelago. Here we offer education from basic level to doctoral level and conduct world-class applied research. We transform and make a difference. Do you want to be one of us? The Department of Software Engineering comprises approximately 50 people from 20 different countries. Our tradition in software engineering dates back to 1990 when we started Sweden's first education in the field. The department's research and educational environment, SERL Sweden – Software Engineering Research and Education Lab Sweden, has since expanded and is now positioned as world-leading in research on software development. The department is responsible for education in software engineering from bachelor's level up to doctoral education. Job Description The position includes research, teaching, and supervision in software engineering. The applicant is expected to actively participate in leading and developing the department's research and educational activities as well as in seeking external research funding, nationally and internationally. The position is focused on AI4SE, that is, AI for Software Engineering, and includes research on how artificial intelligence, generative AI, and large language models can support and transform methods, processes, and tools in software development throughout the lifecycle. A particular area of interest within AI4SE is AI for software architecture, which includes AI-supported architecture work, architecture decision-making, architecture recovery, and architecture evaluation. Candidates with particularly outstanding research profiles in other application areas within AI4SE are also encouraged to apply, including AI for requirements management, AI for software maintenance, AI for software testing and quality assurance, and compliance and governance within AI4SE. We also value experience in empirical research in close collaboration with industry or public agencies. Teaching includes lectures, practical components, and course development at basic and advanced level within software engineering. In addition, supervision of thesis work and project work at basic and advanced level is included. There is also the opportunity to supervise doctoral students. Teaching at basic level is primarily in Swedish, while teaching at advanced and doctoral level is primarily in English. We expect a non-Swedish-speaking employee to acquire sufficient knowledge of Swedish within three years to be able to teach and communicate with the university's various units/functions in Swedish. Qualification Requirements To be eligible for appointment as an assistant professor, you must hold a doctoral degree or have equivalent scientific competence. Primarily, those who have obtained a doctoral degree or reached equivalent competence no more than seven years before the time of application for the assistant professor position should be considered. However, those who have obtained a doctoral degree or reached equivalent competence earlier may also be considered if there are special reasons. Special reasons refer to leave due to illness, parental leave, or other similar circumstances (HF 4 chap., 4a §). Qualification requirements and assessment criteria are described in detail in BTH's Guidelines for Employment and Promotion of Teachers, which can be found on the Vacant Positions page (https://www.bth.se/download/18.5e8cb66197a1e39a7095d1/1750926554517/Riktlinjer_f%C3%B6r_anst%C3%A4llning_l%C3%A4rare_SV_240101.pdf). Meritorious Competencies and Experience Beyond the requirements described in the job description and qualification requirements, the following degrees, competencies, and experience are considered meritorious: AI4SE-focused publications in highly ranked international conferences or journals in software engineering. Documented experience in conducting empirical research in collaboration with industrial partners. Documented experience in obtaining and/or participating in externally funded research projects. Very good ability to express oneself in speech and writing in English. Ability to work independently as well as in a team. Great weight is placed on high social competence and high professional ethics. Place of Work: Karlskrona. Scope of Employment: 100%. Start Date: By agreement.
