We are responsible for steering, monitoring, and developing the city's operations based on the vision and budget decided by the City Assembly. We are just over 390 employees who primarily work with strategic issues that are of great importance to the city's operations. Welcome to us Stockholm City's Legal Department is located within the City Executive Office. Our clients are the city's boards, administrations, companies, and foundations. The department's task is to provide our clients with qualified legal expertise and service, and to provide service to the City Assembly and City Council. We are approximately 60 employees in the department, of which about 35 are lawyers. The department is divided into four units – the General Legal Unit, the Social and School Legal Unit, the Support and Development Unit, and the City Assembly and City Council Secretariat – KF/KS Office. In the Social and School Legal Unit, we work with legal matters within the social services and school areas, and twelve lawyers work in the unit. We are now looking for lawyers with notarial certification for two permanent positions as Assistant City Attorneys. Your role The work tasks mainly involve the following: • advising municipal administrations • represent the city as counsel in courts, primarily in cases under the Act with Special Provisions on Care of Young People (LVU) • provide opinions on legal matters • conduct training The work area is primarily social law such as the Social Services Act (SoL), LVU, the Disability Act (LSS), and municipal family law. School legislation, municipal health and medical care, general administrative law, public access and confidentiality legislation, and municipal law are also common areas of law. Your competence and experience You who are applying have • a law degree (jur.kand.) • completed notarial service • very good ability to express yourself well in Swedish, both orally and in writing It is a merit if you have • current experience of work in social law • current experience in one or more of the other legal areas mentioned above • experience of conducting litigation in court as counsel As a person, you are communicative and have a good ability to build good relationships at your workplace and with your clients. The work requires you to be thorough, have good judgment, and be quick and efficient. You must be able to conduct proceedings in court and express yourself clearly and distinctly in speech and writing.
