About Us at Vättleskolan Vättleskolan is located in northeastern Gothenburg and situated near the beautiful natural area of Vättlefjäll! Currently, Vättleskolan is undergoing a major positive transformation with focus on differentiated instruction, safety, study environment, and improved achievement outcomes. At Vättleskolan, we currently have approximately 290 students and about 50 staff members who meet the students every day. Our operations include grades 4-9, as well as an adapted primary school 4-9 with approximately 35 students divided across subject and subject area instruction. We are now seeking an assistant principal to join our leadership team at Vättleskolan who wants to continue the positive transformation journey we have begun. You will be responsible for grades 7-9 of the primary school and for the adapted primary school grades 7-9. Together with the principal and your closest colleague, you will lead the school's systematic quality work with all staff via delegation to increase achievement outcomes. As support for this work, we at Vättleskolan have a collaboration with Skolverket and their specially targeted intervention (SRI) together with the primary school administration. The school area also includes Gunnaredsskolan F-3 and Rannebergsskolan F-3, grades 1-3 adapted primary school. The entire leadership team in school area Northeast 13 consists of a principal and four assistant principals. Together we work to drive and develop the schools in the school area based on scientific grounds and proven experience. The goal is to have close collaboration between schools for the benefit of students in grades F-9. Responsibilities The assistant principal's work involves exercising leadership close to students and staff and actively participating in the school leadership team. The assistant principal focuses on the school's core processes and works daily to make a difference for the students. In this role, you have financial, personnel, and operational responsibility. This means you lead and distribute work for your group, conduct regular staff conversations, and serve as the salary-setting manager. The role is largely executive and operational under delegated responsibility in a team with your closest colleague and the principal. The role also includes formal delegated workplace environment responsibility to drive and develop systematic workplace environment work at the school. The goal is a well-functioning leadership group for the entire school grades 4-9 with one principal and two assistant principals. In this assignment, you have access to support from the administration in areas such as administration, finance, HR, quality and development work, digitalization, analysis, and legal matters. As new to the city or in a new assignment, there is also the opportunity to have a mentor. Qualifications We are looking for someone with the following qualifications: • University degree of at least 180 credits where pedagogy was part of the education • Experience in some form of leadership role • At least 4 years of experience working in school For this position, it is also meritorious if you have: • Completed principal training and/or leadership development program/training or preparatory management training • School leadership experience or other management experience in multicultural settings and adapted primary school • Experience with laws/regulations and collective agreements related to employer responsibility • Experience with financial management and resource allocation • Experience with leadership in socioeconomically challenging areas and collaboration with external actors in this context As an assistant principal, you are motivated by clearly defined goals and have the ability to transform these into concrete action. You should be able to efficiently identify and analyze the core of a problem and propose possible solutions. You have the ability to see connections and can draw logical conclusions based on limited and/or complex information. As an assistant principal, you should be able to oversee your own area of responsibility and place your own operation's significance in a larger context. You work for cohesion in the work group and see failures as something to learn from and create space for it. You are furthermore a clear and good communicator who gets support for thoughts and ideas and can influence decisions in a certain direction.
