About Language Center Language Center is a unit within the Department of Learning Support and Student Well-being and offers native language instruction and study guidance in the native language in approximately 70 different languages for students in Stockholm's municipal schools. The unit currently has approximately 400 employees and is revenue-financed. Language Center's operations aim to maintain and develop children and young people's multilingualism and contribute to increased goal achievement for students with a native language other than Swedish. We are currently in the midst of a major change process. For example, this school year we expanded a pilot project with distance learning in several languages. We are also seeking new working methods to both increase the quality of native language instruction and achieve greater cost efficiency. As Assistant Principal, you will be part of a management team consisting of a unit director and eight assistant principals as well as administrative staff. Language Center is located in excellent facilities – in the heart of Stockholm – with proximity to transportation and services. As Assistant Principal, you will be involved in developing Stockholm into a city where children and young people, according to their abilities, develop strong knowledge and skills for further studies and a meaningful working life. As Assistant Principal in the City of Stockholm, you are never alone but have access to extensive support within the organization. As a new manager in the City of Stockholm, you are offered management introduction and through the city's network you deepen your knowledge in various areas and build valuable relationships. Your role and assignment Language Center is looking for an Assistant Principal who wants to strengthen the management and continued development of the operations. In this role, you will have a significant assignment where you actively contribute to the operations achieving their goals in a cost-effective and sustainable manner. You work in a structured way to prioritize, make well-founded assessments, and ensure that the organization's resources are used in the best possible way. A central part of the role is to be responsible for staffing allocation and staffing – areas that are currently being developed as part of a larger change process. You therefore need to have a good understanding of how staffing, service structure, and working methods affect the operations' economy and quality. As Assistant Principal, you lead a large group of staff and have a clear responsibility for leading and organizing the pedagogical work in the group. You lead remotely but meet with the groups every week, either in person or via Teams. You drive the development of organization and working methods, plan and manage your own work, and contribute to the whole through a solution-focused and development-oriented leadership. Your competence and experience We are looking for a clear and holistic leader with good collaboration and problem-solving skills. As a manager, you are flexible, have good judgment, and work in a structured way both in your own work and in dialogue with your employees. You are driven by development and work goal and result-oriented. You can make decisions and act on them without delay. We are looking for a person with high communication skills, who listens and adapts to the recipient and situation. A person who can engage in both personal meetings and in larger contexts. Formally, we are looking for you who have: - Pedagogical university education at bachelor's level or political science, behavioral science with pedagogical specialization. - Management experience with work environment, financial, and personnel responsibility. - Experience leading operations in transformation. - Work experience from schools or educational activities. - Good knowledge of school's governing documents and the principal's assignment. - Knowledge of workplace legislation and systematic quality work. - Very good Swedish in speech and writing is required for the position. Meritorious: - Education in quality and development work. - Advanced management training, such as coaching-based leadership or development-oriented leadership. - Responsibility for and implementation of staffing allocation and scheduling. - Experience driving quality and change processes as a manager with good results. - Completed or initiated principal training.
