Description Kärraskolan is an F-9 school with adapted primary education and after-school care, located in central Kärra. Approximately 820 students between the ages of 6-16 attend our school. Our goal is for Kärraskolan to be a school where students, staff, and parents feel welcome and share a collective responsibility for creating favorable conditions for learning. We are now seeking an Assistant Principal to oversee grades 4-6 with associated after-school care. Responsibilities The school leadership consists of a Principal and four Assistant Principals responsible for lower, middle, and upper secondary levels as well as adapted primary education. The Assistant Principal's work involves exercising leadership close to students and staff. You focus on the school's core processes and work daily to make a difference for students. The role is largely executive and operational under delegated responsibility. Specifically, it involves assisting the Principal in steering the school in a common direction as decided by the leadership team and Principal. You lead, develop, and organize work at your school unit within the scope of your delegation. In the leadership team, you contribute as Assistant Principal to the Principal's decision-making based on a holistic perspective and equity, as well as our collegial learning. As an Assistant Principal, you are responsible for goals, budget, personnel, and quality within your area of responsibility according to the committee's further delegation. You are responsible for workplace environment tasks assigned to you, including those concerning student workplace environment. You also participate in organizational changes, position allocation, and scheduling. The role includes collaboration with other departments, authorities, guardians, the local community, and other school units. As an Assistant Principal in Gothenburg City, you have access to support from the department's various support functions in areas such as finance, HR, quality and development, communication, and digitalization. Qualifications We are looking for someone with: - a university degree of at least 180 credits where pedagogy was part of the education - experience from some form of leadership role - at least 4 years of experience working in schools - knowledge of laws, regulations, and other governing documents at the national level for school and educational activities within primary education It is meritorious if you have: - Principal certification - leadership development program or training, or preparatory management education - school leadership experience or other management experience - experience with financial management and resource allocation - experience with laws, regulations, and collective agreements concerning employer responsibility (for example, the Education Act and the Work Environment Act) - experience from primary schools - experience from after-school care Other Gothenburg City applies individual and differentiated salary setting.
