We are seeking an Assistant Legal Director for the Prosecutor's Office's Legal Department at the head office in Stockholm.
The head of the Legal Department is the agency's Legal Director and leads the work of the department together with the Assistant Legal Director and three unit managers. The Legal Department is responsible for, among other things, issuing the agency's legal policy documents, coordinating remittals, certain legislative matters, and operational legal issues. The department also handles cases of the Director of Public Prosecutions in the Supreme Court, methodological support, and the Director of Public Prosecutions' matters concerning international legal cooperation and the agency's international strategic issues. The department also houses the agency's archives, main registry, library, and the agency's data protection officer. Approximately 25 people work in the department.
Your Responsibilities
Your primary task is to assist the Legal Director. You will also be the immediate supervisor and have work environment responsibility for the department's employees who do not belong to any of the three units—currently five people. The position also includes participating in the operational work of the department, particularly regarding handling cases in the Supreme Court, operational legal matters, and legislative issues. You will be part of the management group of the department together with the Legal Director and the unit managers.
Your Qualifications and Skills
We are looking for someone who has:
- A Nordic law degree
- Well-documented experience working as a prosecutor or in the courts
- Well-documented experience in management and leadership with personnel responsibility
- Leadership training
- Excellent knowledge of criminal and criminal procedure law
- Very good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish
- Good knowledge of English
- Interest in criminal policy issues
It is meritorious if you have experience in legislative work or other comparable qualified legal work in the Government Offices or another government agency that the Prosecutor's Office considers relevant. It is also meritorious to have good knowledge of administrative law.

About the Employment
The position is a permanent employment with a six-month probationary period.
Tests may be used in the recruitment process.
The position is classified as requiring security clearance and therefore a security vetting with record check will be conducted. Swedish citizenship is required for this position.
