About the Unit The 161st Command and Air Surveillance Battalion's main task is to be responsible for monitoring Swedish airspace and air combat control, with the battalion engaged in operations on a daily basis. Other duties include operation and protection of fortified command posts as well as deployment of mobile sensors and radio systems throughout Sweden. The Battalion Staff mainly works with coordination and preparation of matters at all conflict levels, from peace to war. The staff consists of four sections, one of which is the SIS section that works with communications and command support systems. The section's task is to work with, among other things, planning of the battalion's activities such as communications and command support systems in our facilities and installations where IT plays an essential role. Main Duties The position as Assistant IT Director involves broad and varied work within the entire IT area. You will work with, among other things, implementation of IT systems (and accreditation), their management and maintenance. In addition, you will be responsible for compiling and communicating the Stril Battalion's IT needs and you will provide support in developing new systems and process improvement. Administrative tasks as well as more practical technical work are also included as needed. For this you need to build a broad network of contacts through regular cooperation with other personnel at the Swedish Armed Forces and FMV. The Assistant IT Director reports to the head of the SIS section and has no direct personnel responsibility. The Assistant IT Director is functionally led by the IT Director at Uppland Air Wing F 16. The position is relatively newly created and you can thus contribute significantly in shaping the role.
