The Department of Political Science is an international academic environment that welcomes students, researchers, and staff from around the world. Our research focuses on topics such as political institutions, elections, opinion and democracy, international and European politics, environmental policy, corruption, and political ideas. We organize a large number of research seminars and workshops annually within the department's various research areas. We offer education at all levels in both Swedish and English. Approximately 1,400 students study with us, and we have around 170 employees.

The Department of Political Science is now seeking a Research Assistant for the research project Diaspora Groups and Foreign Policy: A Comparative Analysis.
The position is a full-time, fixed-term employment for 11 months.
Duties
As a Research Assistant, your main duties will consist of data collection, analysis of text material, data compilation, and data coding. Other tasks may occur based on project needs, such as presenting and writing reports describing the data material you have collected.
You will be part of the department's research support team, which consists of just over twenty people who contribute to the department's various research projects. The research support team holds regular brief meetings.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone with at least a bachelor's degree in political science or a related field that the employer deems relevant.
The work is performed largely independently, which requires good organizational skills, initiative, and problem-solving ability. At the same time, you have good communication and collaboration skills. You will have continuous check-ins with the researchers within the project.
The work requires good and documented knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methods and data management, as well as experience with the use of language models (LLM). Knowledge of how to use word processing programs and spreadsheets is required.
Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written, is a requirement. Knowledge of French is an asset.
Previous experience working with qualified research support in a similar environment, at a university or in a larger research program, is an asset.

The position is a special fixed-term employment, limited to 11 months with a full-time scope (100%) and placement at the Department of Political Science.
Start date: October 1, 2026, or by agreement.
