At the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology at Sahlgrenska Academy, extensive research and teaching are conducted across major knowledge areas—from molecule to human. The department consists of five sections: pharmacology, physiology, health and rehabilitation, clinical neuroscience, and psychiatry and neurochemistry. The Department of Neuroscience and Physiology is now seeking a Research Associate, positioned at the Section for Psychiatry and Neurochemistry. The section conducts world-leading translational research spanning cells and animal models to clinical studies and comprehensive epidemiological studies. Groundbreaking research is also conducted in areas such as bipolar disorder, addiction medicine, aging, neurochemistry, and psychiatry. Wallenberg Centre for Molecular and Translational Medicine is a newly established research center at Gothenburg University that supports molecular and translational medicine in an effort to strengthen bioscience in Western Sweden. Within this center is the Molecular Brain Imaging group led by Professor Michael Schöll. Responsibilities The Research Associate will work with documentation, coordination, and analysis of data from our clinical biomarker studies and some administrative tasks related to the research group's operations. The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to develop their own research projects and actively engage in research communication both to the general public and through scientific articles and presentations. Qualifications Essential criteria: To qualify as a Research Associate for this position, the applicant should: Hold a relevant bachelor's or master's degree in medicine, neuroscience, biology, psychology, statistics, or similar. Have strong skills in data science and handling multimodal datasets. Have excellent written and verbal skills in Swedish and English. Desired experience: Understanding of statistical modeling, biomarker data analysis, and good clinical research practice. Knowledge of programming (for example, R, Python, MATLAB, Bash). Previous experience with clinical data systems such as REDCap. Interest in coordinating research projects and participant communication. We value curiosity, initiative, and collaborative spirit. We are therefore looking for someone who is proactive and engaged in supporting our research projects with necessary tasks and contributing to a supportive research environment. Employment The position is a fixed-term employment for 11 months, 100% full-time, positioned at the Department of Neuroscience and Physiology until further notice.
