The department has overall responsibility for emergency preparedness and civil defense matters and works with supply preparedness, emergency stockpiles, and the agency's own capacity to handle serious crises and ultimately war. The department also has an explicit responsibility to coordinate NATO work at the agency and the agency's work within the preparedness sector for Food Supply and Drinking Water. The department consists of approximately 40 employees distributed across three units. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES As Assistant Department Head, you work closely with the Department Head and contribute to the leadership, coordination, and development of the department's activities. The role involves strategic and operational responsibility for creating good conditions for the department to achieve its goals. You are part of the department's management group and contribute to business planning, budget processes, follow-up, and development work. You work for good collaboration within the department, at the agency, and with external stakeholders. In this role, you contribute to leading, coordinating, and developing operations and drive matters within your area of responsibility, such as war organization and collaboration with internal and external parties. You also represent the department in external contexts. The role requires a holistic perspective, good judgment, and the ability to contribute to well-balanced priorities in an operation characterized by both long-term planning and event-driven assignments. The Assistant Department Head has no personnel or budget responsibility but participates in planning, follow-up, and other financial processes. QUALIFICATIONS We are looking for someone with: • An academic degree from a university or college, or other education that the employer deems equivalent. • Several years of current experience in managerial or leadership roles with responsibility for operations and employees. • Experience driving and leading systematic change and development work, for example through business development, process development, organizational changes, or implementation of new working methods. • Excellent ability to express yourself in Swedish in speech and writing. • Good knowledge of English and the ability to communicate professionally in English in speech and writing. It is advantageous if you also have: • Experience working with emergency preparedness or total defense matters. • Knowledge of Sweden's preparedness system and its actors. To succeed in the role, you are structured, analytical, and have the ability to prioritize and drive progress in your work. You are development-oriented and open to new perspectives, while you translate ideas into concrete results. You find it easy to collaborate and build trusting relationships. Furthermore, you have a leadership style that engages and creates participation, which contributes to development and good results. We place great emphasis on personal qualities and leadership ability. Salary form: Monthly salary. Employment type: Permanent position. Duration, start date: By agreement. Working hours: Daytime. The position is a full-time permanent employment. The workplace is Jönköping, but the option exists to work part of your time remotely. We normally apply a 6-month probationary period.
