About the operation Within the Maternity and Postpartum/Gynecology ward 12 in Sundsvall, approximately 80 employees work and we handle around 1500 deliveries per year. The operation has a shared leadership with two unit managers. In our staff group there is comprehensive expertise of midwives, nurses and nursing assistants. We have close cooperation with the hospital's neonatal ward which is located in adjacent premises. At our workplace, we work with continuous improvements in the operation to create a good work environment, efficient processes and to meet patient needs. As an assistant unit manager, you receive a management assignment with limited management responsibility where you work closely with regular unit managers in daily management work, but you will not be part of the regional operation's management group. You are subordinate to the unit's unit managers and serve as a replacement during the unit manager's absence. You drive issues related to operations, personnel and finances together with regular managers. As the role is newly established, you get a unique opportunity to be involved in shaping the assignment and contributing to the development of our working methods, routines and processes. The employment is a permanent position in the base profession and the management assignment is time-limited according to the Region's leadership policy as a benchmark. As an assistant manager in Region Västernorrland, you represent the employer and exercise leadership that is based on good self-awareness and characterized by honesty, openness, sense of responsibility and personal courage. The position is full-time with start date 2026-10-01 or by agreement. Work tasks The role includes, among other things: Together with the unit manager plan, organize and lead daily work at the unit Assist in management work regarding operations, finances and personnel Prepare, lead and follow up meetings Work with operations monitoring, goals and quality results Introduce new employees and contribute to a welcoming learning climate Create schedules and plan staffing and competence development Be an approver in Heroma and invoice reviewer in Proceedo Participate in the development of the unit's working methods in accordance with legislation and operational needs Qualifications We are looking for you who: Have experience in leadership and change management Have work experience and knowledge of scheduling and workforce planning Have very good knowledge of Swedish and English, spoken and written It is a merit if you: Have experience working in obstetrics and gynecology Have an adequate academic degree in healthcare or other higher education or experience that the employer deems equivalent overall Have previous experience as a unit manager To succeed in this role, we believe you have these personal qualities: Personal maturity Collaboration skills Loyal Clear Structured Region Västernorrland With approximately 7000 employees and over 200 professions, we at Region Västernorrland are responsible for several of the most important operations for residents' ability to participate in society.
