Regional Laboratory Medicine is part of Sahlgrenska University Hospital, Area 4, and has a clear coordination mandate for the entire Västra Götaland Region. The organization consists of laboratory medicine operations at Södra Älvsborg Hospital, Sahlgrenska University Hospital, the Western Hospitals, and NU Healthcare. Position Description We are now seeking two employees to work with us in Pathology Laboratories 2. The Pathology Laboratory within Clinical Pathology at Sahlgrenska University Hospital is an evolving operation with a new laboratory information system coming in 2026, and development with a strong focus on digitalization within the laboratory and diagnostics. The laboratory employs approximately 90 people, primarily biomedical analysts and biologists, making it the largest pathology laboratory in the country. The laboratory examines cell and tissue samples for the presence of pathological changes. This is primarily done using light microscopy, and the pathology laboratories process tissue samples in preparation for this examination. Job Responsibilities At the Pathology Laboratories, we work in teams and collaborate with other professions such as laboratory technicians, laboratory assistants, nursing assistants, and physicians. The position involves assisting with tissue dissection, independent dissection, frozen sectioning, paraffin embedding, sectioning, scanning and image review, immunological and histochemical staining. We also handle acute samples. We are a pleasant workplace with competent colleagues where you have the opportunity for professional development according to the needs of the operation. The temporary position involves placement in the skin/head, neck, thorax section. About You The position requires that you are a licensed biomedical analyst. It is advantageous if you have experience with specimen dissection and work in a histopathology laboratory. You have good collaboration skills, a positive attitude, and are flexible in your work. You need to have good knowledge of Swedish both spoken and written, as well as good computer skills.
