Description Talldungeskolan is located in Kortedala and has approximately 260 students from preschool through grade 3. With us, students learn in different ways: individually, in groups, and through research and study visits. We focus greatly on language development and communication because we know it is the most important foundation for knowledge development in all subjects. We also develop work with visual supports and signs as alternative and complementary communication (TAKK). Here all children are met based on their unique needs and we vary instruction and learning environments, both indoors and outdoors. This is done through utilizing the forest around the school and our outdoor classroom. We are now seeking a librarian! Job Responsibilities We work according to Gothenburg City's library plan 2024–2028 with the goal that the school library has a clear pedagogical function whose primary task is to contribute, through collaboration with educators, to promoting students' reading and media and information literacy, and to create a school library for all. The focus of the school library's activities is students' increased achievement of learning objectives, well-being, and identity formation through integrating the school library into instruction. School libraries have a significant role in the school's compensatory mission by meeting students' different needs and circumstances and can contribute to opening windows to the world by broadening perspectives and building resilience against misinformation. The school library should also promote the status of literature and interest in education, while reflecting the interests and diversity in students' everyday lives. As a librarian, you work to strengthen students' reading engagement and reading ability through reading promotion and language development approaches and activities, both independently and in collaboration with school staff. This includes, among other things, conducting lessons in the library or classroom, collaboration with after-school programs in various forms, participation in common activities (and sometimes responsibility for common activities), participation in team and development meetings, participation during breaks (e.g., through an open library during recess), and generally being an active and present adult in the school. You develop work to strengthen students' media and information literacy and digital competence. For example, through lessons in the library and classroom, collaborations with educators, and by being an active part in students' everyday life at school. You plan and conduct instruction and guide students both in the library and classroom. You work to ensure that the school library is an active part of the school's values-based work and democratic mission. As a school librarian, you are responsible for the school library space and work to make the school library a learning environment that is socially, pedagogically, and physically accessible. Job responsibilities include media planning and purchasing, circulation and book management. Together with school librarians at other elementary schools in the city, you are part of the School Administration's school librarian network for collegial learning. You are expected to participate in professional development initiatives aimed at advancing school library operations. Qualifications We are looking for you to have a degree from a university or college in library and information science or equivalent. You have high digital competence relevant to the job responsibilities and a strong interest in children's and young adult literature. To be a good fit for this role, you need to have strong commitment to children and young people and their learning, education, and cultural experiences. You also have a strong ambition to translate research and in-depth subject knowledge into functioning school library practice. We are looking for you to have a good ability to work with others and create good relationships with both students and colleagues. You create conditions for learning to take place and encourage dialogue, participation, and engagement. You also take initiative and responsibility for moving work forward whether you work independently or together with others. You contribute new ideas and perspectives and often see more than one possible solution in different situations. We welcome your application!
