Your responsibilities As a focus librarian, you work to promote reading together with the school's staff. You collaborate closely with educators at the school and in the after-school program, planning how to structure reading instruction to promote literacy and engage students. The work is carried out in different environments at the school. Your responsibilities also include presenting books, working with source criticism, and more across all grade levels. You work to strengthen the library study environment through furniture and interior design. You are responsible for managing the library's resources, such as books and other media. Your workplace Himnaskolan is centrally located in Linghem with access to a lovely outdoor environment featuring open lawns, forest, and an outdoor swimming pool. The school has approximately 550 students in grades F–6 and 70 educators working at the school and in the after-school program. Staff are organized in grade-level teams where school personnel collaborate with after-school staff for the benefit of students. Everyone at Himnaskolan works to promote good community and cooperation for a pleasant work environment. We have qualified and competent staff who continuously work to develop the operation with a strong focus on collaborative learning. About you We are looking for someone with a university or college degree in a relevant field for this position, such as library and information science. It is an advantage if you have experience working in a school library and/or in primary school grades F–6. We also see it as an advantage if you have experience promoting reading among children and young people, as well as experience in instruction and teaching in media and information literacy. You have strong Swedish language skills, both written and verbal. This is necessary to create shared pedagogical platforms in the school's shared drive, formulate pedagogical plans and goals, and write informative communications about the school library at an appropriate language level. We are looking for someone who takes initiative, sees opportunities in change, and adapts easily to new situations and working methods. You work well with other people through your ability to listen and communicate. We also see that you naturally engage colleagues and create alignment around the operation, always keeping the overall benefit of the operation in mind in your actions and decisions. Since you will work closely with our students, you have a natural ability to build contact and establish relationships with children and young people.
