The Culture and Recreation Department is one of Mjölby Municipality's six departments. With approximately 240 employees, we create opportunities for the municipality's visitors and residents to experience and participate in a diverse leisure and cultural life. We operate activities ourselves and provide support to cultural and leisure activities run by non-profit associations, study organizations, and other actors. The department includes libraries, swimming facilities, cultural schools, youth centers, and other cultural and leisure activities.
The Libraries in Mjölby are a dynamic workplace with 15 engaged and creative employees. Our library facilities are meeting places where everyone is welcome for cultural experiences and knowledge acquisition. Activities are located in Mjölby, Skänninge, Mantorp, and Väderstad. We work proactively outside library spaces and collaborate with various actors in diverse contexts. The libraries also offer library services to the correctional system, technical support, and participate in various events, such as Pride. Mjölby Libraries are part of the Göta collaboration with a shared library card and library system. Together with other municipalities, we work to provide equal access to services for all.

JOB DUTIES
This position suits you if you want to contribute knowledge, curiosity, and energy, with a particular focus on nonfiction literature, and want to help develop library activities together with us.
As a librarian, you have an important role in fostering a love of reading, inspiring independent knowledge seeking, and providing people of all ages the tools they need to find information, knowledge, and experiences on their own terms. You will, together with colleagues, drive and develop reading promotion programs and activities. The role also includes monitoring the external environment within relevant responsibility areas and collaboration with various actors within Mjölby Municipality and Göta Libraries. You also participate in working groups that develop the organization and actively contribute to the library's continued development.
The assignment also includes:
• staffing the information desk and providing good service to visitors
• supporting information searches and guiding users in the library's resources
• promoting digital literacy through instruction and support
• planning, implementing, and contributing to the development of activities
• performing systematic support work and circulation work

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who have:
• a bachelor's or master's degree in library and information science, or other relevant education that the employer considers equivalent.
• good knowledge of current nonfiction literature and a genuine interest in library development
• digital literacy
• good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written
As a person, we are looking for you who find reading promotion methods, pedagogy, and language an important and substantial part of your work. You have a strong interest and ability to express yourself in speech and writing, and you radiate credibility and confidence.
You have strong commitment and share our conviction that the user should always be in focus. With warm reception and professional service, you contribute to all visitors feeling welcome. You have good communicative and pedagogical skills and enjoy meeting children, young people, and adults.
As a person, you are attentive, empathetic, and unpretentious. You enjoy collaborating with others but also have the ability to work independently and take your own initiative. You plan and organize your work in a structured, systematic, and reliable manner, with focus on both quality and organizational goals.
You express yourself well in speech and writing and have an easy time identifying user needs and adapting your work accordingly.
