The department's public activities include Helsingborg Library, Helsingborg Museum, Helsingborg Cultural School, Helsingborg Art Hall, and Dunkers stages. Together they are supported by shared staff functions in communication, administration, finance, and HR. The library's mission is to provide all Helsingborg residents with free access to information and knowledge, create inspiring meeting places, promote reading and digital participation to support free opinion formation and development in a democratic society. As part of the strategy, the entire operation works to lift prioritized target groups, work outside its own premises, collaborate with other activities, and increase participation culture. The library includes district libraries, a library bus, a city library, and the digital library. The operation is in an exciting development phase where two new district libraries are opening in 2026 while work is underway to return to the renovated and expanded city library. Work that in the coming years will involve all personnel. The organization consists of five departments and a staff of approximately 80 employees. Job Duties The Reading Department, tasked with inspiring reading, is now seeking two engaged employees who want to help develop the library of the future. We are looking for you as someone who takes initiative, sees opportunities, and wants to make a difference for Helsingborg residents. As a librarian focused on adults, you are a key person in our reading promotion work for this target group. You meet our visitors daily in staffing and activities, both in and outside our premises. Meeting people is essential for the library to succeed with its mission, and you therefore need to gain energy from creating meaningful encounters with both visitors and collaboration partners. Through positive meetings, you contribute to the library becoming a welcoming and relevant place for everyone. You work attentively and individually tailored in staffing, where guidance and inspiration are central parts. You enjoy planning and conducting, for example, author talks, book clubs, and activities aimed at the LSS target group. In this way, you contribute to making the library a vibrant place for conversation, community, and development. There is a media group responsible for selection and procurement of media for all libraries. Participating in the group is part of your regular duties, and it may become relevant for you to join the group. The focus would then be on fiction for adults or multilingual materials for all target groups. Additional job duties include: Guide in the digital landscape and use technical tools in various contexts Actively seek collaboration with other activities and organizations to create better services for Helsingborg residents. Actively participate in and drive development and change work within library operations. You develop your competence by taking personal responsibility for your learning through environmental awareness, collegial learning, and challenging yourself in your work. Duties may take place at the city library, district libraries, or the library bus. Evening and weekend shifts occur. Qualifications We are looking for you with education in library and information science or other education that the employer deems equivalent. You have a clear focus on service and customer interaction and the ability to meet visitors' different needs. You have experience with a pedagogical approach, and it is meritorious if you have driven projects or change processes. An engagement for children is important as they are a natural part of our operations. You have a strong interest in literature, particularly for adults, and enjoy inspiring others to read. You enjoy leading group activities and feel comfortable in a public role, for example at author talks. You thrive in change, see opportunities, and want to contribute to the operation's development. You work in a structured manner, take responsibility for your tasks, and translate ideas into results. As a person, you are relationship-building and enjoy collaborating with others. You build relationships both internally and externally and contribute with commitment, initiative, and a positive attitude.
