Workplace Description The Border Police Unit consists of approximately 470 employees who work on border controls, internal immigration checks, and investigation and enforcement work within the Police Region Stockholm's area of responsibility. The unit conducts operations such as investigations into human trafficking, violations of immigration law, and transnational organized crime. Decision makers at the border on-call unit are part of the Enforcement Section, located at our facilities on Gärdet in Stockholm. Operations run around the clock, every day of the year. Job Description As a decision maker, you will work three shifts alongside case handlers in the border on-call unit. The border on-call unit receives calls from police officers and provides support and instructions on immigration matters. The unit also provides guidance on both practical and legal questions related to other legislation that may become relevant to police officers. As a decision maker, you will make determinations on immigration matters and, for example, make decisions on rejection and detention in accordance with immigration legislation. Your work also includes receiving calls from police officers together with the case handlers, as well as handling and administering cases. You will contact and collaborate with other agencies such as the Migration Agency, the Prosecutor's Office, and the Correctional Service. Your work includes making confidentiality assessments and providing guidance on administrative law issues. As a decision maker, you will partially direct the work of the team members in the border on-call unit. You provide support and develop your employees in legal application and subject matters. You are expected to obtain and maintain relevant knowledge for your role and monitor legal developments, case law, and guidelines. Qualifications This is an opportunity for someone who has: A law degree, police degree, or other equivalent academic education that the employer deems relevant. Several years of experience in legal work requiring qualified legal assessments, where grounding in law and case law has been part of daily work. Experience with government agency work and strong knowledge of administrative law Ability to express yourself very well in speech and writing in Swedish Good knowledge of English Swedish citizenship It is meritorious if you also have: Understanding of the laws governing police operations, such as the Police Act, the Criminal Code, and the Code of Judicial Procedure Experience working with matters related to migration and immigration legislation, asylum and residence permits. Experience with case handling at the Migration Agency or the Police Authority. Personal Qualities Your personal qualities are of great importance to the Border Police's success.
