Our Operations
The Substance Abuse Medical Clinic is a specialized addiction care service for adults within Region Uppsala. We are an outpatient clinic consisting of a team of specialist nurses, registered nurses, physicians, psychologists, social workers, and medical secretaries who together support individuals with substance use disorders and concurrent psychiatric/somatic comorbidities.
The clinic is characterized by strong collegial cohesion and an exciting, varied, and meaningful mission, where you as an employee are given the opportunity to grow and make a difference.
The workplace is located in the Psychiatry Building at Akademiska Hospital. In addition to the clinic at the hospital, we also provide mobile services and an integrated addiction clinic in Tierp.
Your Assignment
As a registered nurse at the Substance Abuse Medical Clinic, you will have a central role in providing our patients with safe and supportive care. You will have the opportunity to work independently assessing, planning, and implementing nursing interventions based on a care plan that you develop together with the patient. At the same time, you will also be part of a skilled and multiprofessional team that supports and helps each other in daily work.
Beyond your colleagues at the clinic, you will collaborate with other healthcare providers and community services to ensure that patients receive the help and support they need outside the clinic as well. By supporting patients in taking responsibility for their own health and treatment, you contribute to improved quality of life and increased opportunities for long-term recovery.
The work also includes medication administration, telephone counseling, and the opportunity to facilitate group treatment if interested.
You will be part of psychiatry's ongoing transformation work, where you are given the opportunity to help develop and implement nursing routines and guidelines based on evidence and best practice care processes.
Your Qualifications
Authentic registered nurse; specialist nurse education in psychiatry is desirable.
• Experience in care within psychiatric services, preferably in addiction care or specialist psychiatry.
• Experience working in interdisciplinary teams and good understanding of collaboration between different healthcare professions.
Your Competencies
As a person, you are attentive, empathetic, and have the ability to meet each individual where they are. You have a strong interest in working with patients with substance use disorders and thrive in an environment where collaboration and flexibility are essential to providing the best possible care. You have good ability to work both independently and as part of a team and have an easy time building trust and good relationships with patients and colleagues. Since the patient group often has complex care needs, the work requires great commitment, patience, and a problem-solving approach.
Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
