DO works for a society free from discrimination and for those who have experienced discrimination to receive redress. DO is now seeking committed lawyers who want to contribute to this important work as a legal officer. The Legal Unit The main task of the Legal Unit is to oversee compliance with the Anti-Discrimination Act. Oversight work is conducted primarily through investigating reports of discrimination. DO also has the right to act as a party in legal proceedings on behalf of individuals who have experienced discrimination. DO's mandate also includes representing individuals disadvantaged in violation of, among other things, the Parental Leave Act. The Legal Unit consists of approximately 50 employees divided into five sections. The sections are staffed with section heads, unit assistants, legal officers, investigators, and case handlers. The sections are not specialized but work across all relevant areas of society and regarding all grounds for discrimination. Your Responsibilities As a legal officer, you will participate in the ongoing work of the Legal Unit. Your main responsibilities include reviewing incoming complaints, requesting additional information, making legal assessments, and presenting matters to decision-makers. You will also prepare oversight cases, particularly in the initial phase. This work includes confidentiality reviews. The role involves written and verbal communication with members of the public as well as with companies and public authorities in both case preparation and in DO's information service, Ask DO. Your responsibilities include legal investigations and certain legal research work. Some administrative tasks are also part of the role. Requirements We are looking for you with - Swedish law degree, equivalent older degree, or legal education recognized as equivalent to a Swedish law degree - at least one year of current experience from a public agency, court, or what DO deems as equivalent experience - current experience in case preparation - current knowledge of public access and confidentiality - very good knowledge of Swedish and English in both speech and writing - good knowledge of the Microsoft Office package You must also have the ability to - quickly familiarize yourself with new subject areas and apply new knowledge - analyze and assess complex and extensive information - collaborate and build good relationships - work independently and results-oriented - work structured and efficiently with great attention to detail - handle a sometimes high work pace in an event-driven operation - be solution-focused and responsive to the organization's needs - communicate in a correct, audience-adapted, and understandable manner both verbally and in writing - maintain high integrity and act unpretentiously in your work - treat people in a judicious and professional manner Meritorious Requirements - Notary qualification - current experience presenting cases - knowledge of anti-discrimination law In this recruitment, great emphasis is placed on personal qualities. The position of legal officer is a permanent employment starting with a six-month probationary period. Start date by agreement.
