Building and maintaining roads and infrastructure is significant. Contributing to community development is even greater. With us, you get to do both. We are now seeking an asphalt paving worker for our Industry division and placement operations in Kalmar. At Svevia, we combine the community and teamwork of a small company with the stability of a large enterprise. Here you'll have the opportunity to develop as a road specialist – with engagement, collaboration, and responsibility.
Your Assignment as an Asphalt Paving Worker
As an asphalt paving worker with us, you participate in both larger and smaller paving projects. Our clients include Trafikverket, municipalities, private customers, and other operations within Svevia. Since the size and nature of projects vary, the work tasks are diverse and provide opportunities for development within the profession. You are part of a work team where you collectively perform paving work according to given orders and existing regulations. You are responsible for ensuring that vehicles and technical equipment are properly maintained and in good condition, and you handle materials, measuring equipment, and other technical equipment so that the final product meets the customer's quality requirements.
We primarily perform paving work in Småland and Östergötland counties and surrounding areas. You work from home and can therefore live geographically in Småland. Travel with overnight stays is common. Some work is performed during inconvenient hours.
Who Are You?
We are looking for someone with several years of experience in paving work who enjoys working on roads. We view it positively if you have tried most roles in a laying crew. A Class B driver's license and fluency in Swedish, both spoken and written, are requirements for working with us. It is a merit to have a driver's license with BE category authorization. Some computer experience is also a merit.
To succeed in the role of asphalt paving worker, you need to be a team player who shows respect, supports, and cares about your colleagues. We see the work team as central to achieving success and delivering results, so your collaborative skills are extremely important. You keep the customer's needs in focus and work methodically to ensure our product maintains high and consistent quality. You simply enjoy delivering world-class results!
At Svevia, safety is a high priority. We aim to have the industry's safest workplaces and most secure traffic environments. This means you must follow the statutory requirements, rules, and safety regulations that come with the role. Additionally, you arrive on time and keep your commitments.
At Svevia, we apply individual salary-setting for skilled workers and have agreements on annual working hours. This means you primarily work during our season from April to December and are on leave during January to March, of course provided you have reached your annual working hours during the season. We offer wellness benefits of 5,000 kr per year. We are happy to tell you more about this at a potential interview.
Part of Something Larger
Svevia's Industry division is in an expansive phase, and our ambitions are high. The goal is to be a leading player in paving in Sweden.
Behind every road lies more than the obvious surface: an entire industry of knowledge and delivery capability. Our offering is an industrial process. From stone to finished road.
It all starts with a quarry, which then becomes ballast, which is then used in asphalt production, which is finally laid on the road. With over 100 owned quarries, our own production of asphalt, bituminous emulsion, and thermoplastic, we have a breadth that no one else does. In our laboratories, we conduct material analyses and ensure that products meet standards and requirements. And our skilled teams in milling, asphalting, tank paving, and road marking ensure that the delivery is complete.
Why Svevia?
With us, you quickly become part of the team and we make sure to be a workplace for everyone. Decision-making paths are short and it's easy to have your voice heard. At the same time, you become part of a practical reality and a company where concrete results are created with smoking asphalt machines, large snow plows, and tons of rebar and concrete. With your professional expertise, you can make a difference on the road. And we always put safety first – both with care for your own work environment and others' security.
For those who want to take the next step in development, there are many opportunities. Both if you want to deepen your knowledge within your specific area or move forward into a supervisory position.
Together we make city and countryside function. Do you want to share the road with us?
Application and Information
You apply simply by submitting your CV and answering a few selection questions. Our recruitment process is based on a competency-based approach, which is a prerequisite for quality-assured, inclusive, and unbiased recruitment. Therefore, we do not want a personal cover letter. When you submit your application, you will be asked to answer several questions about your interest in Svevia, your experience related to the role, and which positions in paving crews/machine crews you have competence in.
Submit your application no later than August 5. Selection is made after the final application deadline, and you can expect feedback during August.
If you have questions about the position, you are welcome to contact Construction Manager Henrik Prècenth at [email protected] or Talent Acquisition Partner Anni Fredriksson at [email protected]. Questions will be answered with some delay during July due to vacation.
