The Swedish Prison and Probation Service, SiS, is a government agency responsible for individually tailored coercive care for young people and adults with substance abuse issues. We do this at youth facilities and homes for adults with substance abuse throughout the country. At SiS, your working life will be an exciting challenge. Regardless of where in our organization you work or what position you hold, you help create life-changing transformation. SiS Youth Facility Fagared serves non-compulsory school-aged boys with psychosocial problems, criminal behavior, and substance abuse issues. We have units in Lindome, Öxnevalla, and Gothenburg. Job Description Do you want to help create life-changing transformation for vulnerable people? Then the position of treatment educator at SiS Youth Facility Fagared is meaningful work for you. At our units in Lindome, we receive young people placed under care pursuant to the Act with Special Provisions on Care of Young People (LVU), as well as young people sentenced under the Closed Youth Care Act (LSU). We are now expanding our staffing with additional treatment educators for our LSU units in Lindome. The units are secure treatment facilities in three different security classifications, and we implement closed youth care for boys sentenced to criminal penalties under the Closed Youth Care Act. As a treatment educator, you work in a team with treatment assistants and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivation work and provide support in daily life. Using your knowledge of care and treatment work, you actively contribute to implementing treatment plans and enforcement plans. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes to legal certainty, planning, and follow-up of our operations. You help maintain security according to our procedures and support the smooth running of daily activities such as schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. Being a contact person is also one of your responsibilities. The work may also include mentoring new staff and interns. This is a position for someone who sees a positive challenge in supporting young people in difficult life situations. The work is sometimes demanding, but also highly rewarding, varied, and filled with meaning. Our vision is to be a place for change. This characterizes our approach, commitment, and values. As a new employee, you will complete SiS basic training lasting 10 weeks. The training combines theory with guided introduction and prepares you for the treatment role in SiS operations. Qualifications To succeed in this work, you have a firmly grounded positive view of human nature. You are motivated to help people in vulnerable life situations and you share SiS values—to be a place for change. You have a strong ability to create engagement and participation among our young people. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You are collaborative and can handle conflicts constructively. You must also have: Diploma from a 2-year post-secondary education at a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) with a focus on social/pedagogical treatment work, or education from a university that we consider equivalent Category B driver's license Good Swedish in speech and writing Meritorious: Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations Experience in client-facing work Education in care and welfare Experience working with our target group (e.g., youth care, criminal justice, etc.) At SiS we value good teamwork.
