The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (Statens institutionsstyrelse, SiS) is a government agency responsible for individualized forced care for young people with complex psychosocial problems and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS youth home Långanäs receives non-school-age boys with psychosocial problems, criminal behavior, and substance abuse issues. Job Description Do you want to be part of creating vital change for vulnerable people? Then the position as treatment assistant at SiS is a meaningful challenge. As a treatment assistant, you work in a team together with treatment pedagogues and treatment coordinators, and together you are responsible for ensuring that the young people (non-school-age boys) living with us receive the safety, care, and treatment they need. We often meet people in crisis, which means you work with qualified care and motivation work and provide support in daily life. With support from your knowledge in care and treatment work, you actively contribute to treatment plans being fulfilled. Documentation is an important part of your work and contributes to legal security, planning, and monitoring of our operations. You contribute to maintaining security according to our procedures and help ensure that daily life runs smoothly with schooling, cleaning, cooking, and more. Being a contact person is also one of your tasks. Your work may also include acting as a mentor to new employees and interns. Therefore, you need to have a good ability to create commitment and participation. Equally important is that you have a well-founded positive view of people, great empathetic ability, and an ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and enjoy sharing your knowledge with colleagues. Qualifications: At least a 2-year post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or equivalent education. The education should be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or other relevant subject area. - Exceptions to the requirement of at least two years of post-secondary education can be made in individual cases if there are special reasons according to Chapter 5, Section 4 of the Social Services Ordinance (2025:468). B-category driver's license Good Swedish in speech and writing Meritorious qualifications: Experience from client-facing positions in the Correctional Service, e.g., Correctional Officer Security guard training Experience from client-facing positions at the Migration Agency, e.g., handler at the Detention Unit Education in care and social services Experience working with our target group (e.g., substance abuse care, youth care, young boys) At SiS, we value good collegial relationships. Start date by agreement. We also have a 3-day introduction that needs to be completed before you as an employee can work with clients, plus shadowing with regular staff. As a new employee, you will also complete SiS basic training lasting 10 weeks. Working hours are scheduled day, evening, and weekend shifts.
