Description:

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service (SiS) is a government agency responsible for individually tailored involuntary care for young people with complex psychosocial challenges and for adults with substance abuse issues. SiS also administers closed youth care. We do this at youth homes and facilities for adults with substance abuse issues throughout the country. Working at SiS makes your professional life an exciting challenge. Regardless of where you work in our organization or what position you hold, you help create life-changing impact. SiS youth home Brättegården is located just outside Vänersborg. We admit non-compulsory school-age girls with psychosocial challenges, mental health issues, delinquency, and substance abuse. Job Description We are seeking treatment assistants for hourly positions. The goal of your assignment is to motivate young people toward new and less risky ways of living. As a treatment assistant, you help ensure that the department's routines function properly. You play a significant role in providing stability and security for the young people, and you form the foundation of daily life—school attendance, cleaning, cooking, and more. You help maintain security at the institution according to our procedures. Together with your team of committed colleagues, such as treatment educators and treatment coordinators, you have the opportunity to achieve good results and contribute to change. The job is often demanding but also stimulating, rewarding, and varied. Our vision is to be a place for change, and this permeates our approach, our commitment, and our attitude. As a new employee, you will complete a three-day introductory training and shadow a mentor during your first work shifts. Our Departments On the treatment wards, staff work with the young person's individual treatment plan. As an hourly employee, you support your team in all aspects of daily life so that skills training, structured treatment activities, and program activities can be carried out. We have both traditional treatment wards and wards focused on substance abuse treatment. On our specially reinforced wards (SFA), girls with autism spectrum disorder and/or intellectual disability live and receive specially adapted care and treatment. The goal is to create security, functioning relationships, and find strategies that make it possible to manage life based on available resources. As part of the transition treatment process, there is an open ward. Here the focus is on the young person maintaining the skills they have acquired by practicing living in open settings. On September 1st, we are reopening our intake and needs assessment ward (MBB), which is usually the young person's first contact with SiS. The task here is to interrupt delinquency, substance abuse, and other socially destructive behavior, stabilize the young person's situation and wellbeing, and assess their needs for continued services. Qualifications Your personal suitability is key to creating life-changing impact. Therefore, you need a strong ability to create engagement and participation. Equally important is that you have a firmly grounded positive view of people, strong empathetic ability, and the ability to build good relationships. You have good communication skills and can remain calm even in pressured situations. You also have the ability to collaborate with others and willingly share your knowledge with colleagues. You must also have: At least 2 years of post-secondary education from a folk high school or vocational college (KY/YH) or equivalent education. The education must be focused on social work, social pedagogy, behavioral science, or other relevant subject area.* B-class driver's license Good Swedish language skills, both spoken and written It is advantageous if you have: Experience working with people in vulnerable life situations, for example from psychiatry, HVB services, or care and support. At SiS, we value good teamwork. This means that as an employee, you take responsibility for your work, contribute to development, and participate in good collaboration.
