Counselor/Social Worker Wanted for Domestic Violence Unit

Your Workplace The Domestic Violence in Close Relationships unit is part of the Investigation and Protection department, one of three departments within the Children and Families division at the Social Services sector in Härryda Municipality. The Investigation and Protection department consists of an intake group, two investigation groups, an intensive investigation group, and the Social Services domestic violence group. The business area also includes the Prevention unit and the Foster Care and Family Treatment unit, which enables close collaboration and getting the right help at the right time. The Domestic Violence group consists of a Senior Social Worker, three Social Workers, and two Counselors. Based on the new Social Services Act and opportunities for Assistance without needs assessment, we are now seeking an additional Counselor to replace a Social Worker position. Our municipality is small enough to create close and sustainable collaboration with other professionals, yet large enough to make strategic investments where needed. We have regular staff forums led by the Operations Manager, where all members of the Children and Families division gather to exchange information and experiences. Härryda Municipality is conveniently located within commuting distance of Gothenburg and surrounding municipalities. Buses and trains run frequently and stop near the office. The office is in Mölnlycke center, close to grocery stores, pharmacies, and lunch options. Your Assignment The assignment involves working with adults who have experienced domestic violence and those who perpetrate violence in their relationships. Härryda Municipality actively works to reduce and prevent domestic violence. The municipality offers support and assistance to both those who experience violence and those who commit violence. The primary work task will be counseling support. The work also includes safety assessments, certain investigative work, support during legal processes, and some practical support. The position may also involve emergency work such as placement in safe housing. The group has a consultative responsibility for the entire social services department and is available to all staff with their expertise. The group is in a development phase where outreach and community-oriented work will play a greater role in line with the new Social Services Act. We will also launch a support group for abused women in fall 2026. In the work group, everyone has a genuine interest in issues relating to domestic violence. We are a small group with extensive knowledge. The group values care for one another and helpfulness. What This Position Requires We are looking for someone with a degree in Social Work and several years of experience in treatment and/or investigation work. Strong ability to express yourself verbally and in writing in Swedish. Meriting qualifications: Experience in treatment work regarding domestic violence, experience with supportive and transformative dialogue. Experience in investigation work within social services. Advanced training in Conversation about Freedom, Conversation about Violence, and FREDA, Sara risk assessment, and Patriarchy. It is also meritorious if you have advanced training in dialogue such as Step 1 training.
