Sweden's most beautiful workplace is seeking a Boatman (temporary position) based in Luleå Working as a Boatman As a Boatman, you are responsible for conducting maritime transports and, when applicable, land transports and transports on/over ice. The work includes maintenance and upkeep of Swedish Maritime Administration property and equipment. The position involves participating in maritime rescue operations, for which we offer specialized further training. Operations run 24/7 year-round, which means day, evening, and night shifts according to the work schedule. Pilot boats are staffed by two Boatmen, one serving as master and one as mate/deckhand. To serve as mate, you must have at least Ship Officer Class VII certification and complete internal training. To serve as master, you must have at least Ship Officer Class VI certification and complete internal training. Sweden is divided into nine pilot transport areas along our long coastline. We are now seeking a boatman for the North Pilot Transport Area with station in Luleå. In addition to Luleå, Skellefteå and Örnsköldsvik are included in the pilot transport area. Who Are You? You must meet the following requirements: at least Ship Officer Class VII certification (not limited to inland navigation) at least Engineer Officer Class VIII certification Basic Safety certificate at least ROC certificate Medical certificate for seafarers (deck duties in unlimited navigation) B-class driver's license (manual transmission) strong Swedish and English reading and speaking skills strong skills in working with maintenance systems good ability to perform technical service and maintenance It is a merit if you have strong skills in operating smaller vessels (approximately 10–40 meters in length) and Ship Officer Class VI certification. The position may require Swedish citizenship. Security clearance with criminal background check may be conducted before a job offer.
