Job Description We are now looking for you who want to contribute to a safe and inspiring school environment for our children and students in preschool and primary school. To be qualified to apply, you need to have a high school diploma or equivalent and have experience working with groups of children. Your employment will be tied to the Staffing Unit at the Education Administration of Stockholm City, which is responsible for staffing and operating Stockholm City's school substitute pool. As a substitute childcare worker, you have a time-limited employment where you are available to the city's preschools and schools, and where you yourself choose which parts of Stockholm you want to be available for. You are not guaranteed work; it is governed by the schools' need for substitutes and by how much you can work. Your New Role As a substitute childcare worker, you will work in preschools and in the city's primary schools, in preschool classes, in after-school activities, and in grades 1-6 based on your experience. The work is varied, developmental, and requires responsibility. You contribute to creating a safe, meaningful, and stimulating environment for the children. A large part of the work involves supporting the student group in pedagogical contexts and in activities both indoors and outdoors. You are an important part of the pedagogical team and work closely with teachers, who have overall responsibility for instruction. In this role, you may also work with students who need special support. Which activities you can work in is determined by your education, experience, and skills. In consultation with you, the Staffing Unit will match your competencies with the need. The work is flexible – you control which days and times you are available through a web-based booking system. Your Competence and Experience We are looking for someone who has: - a complete high school diploma, adult education diploma, or equivalent foreign diploma validated by UHR - experience working with groups of children or students - good ability to communicate clearly in Swedish, both orally and in writing It is meritorious if you have: - childcare worker training - experience working in preschool/primary school - experience working with children/students in need of special support You must be comfortable managing groups of children and students. You take initiative, are active in working with the children, and treat them with attentiveness. With good ability, you listen, communicate, and resolve conflicts in a constructive manner. We place high demands on your flexibility and ability to collaborate, as you will frequently change workplaces and colleagues. You adapt easily to changed circumstances while maintaining composure and focusing on the right things in stressful situations. Stockholm City practices competence-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competence and thereby preventing discrimination. To work at our schools, you must present a valid excerpt from the police criminal record and suspicion register before an employment offer is made. Within the Education Administration, we apply individual salary setting regulated by HÖK and General Terms (AB).
