The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Skåne University Hospital (SUS) has approximately 900 employees and includes gynecological and obstetric services in both Lund and Malmö. As a university hospital, we also have responsibilities in research, development, and education. The department conducts successful research, and several midwives are doctoral students. A research group is led by a professor specializing in sexual, reproductive, and perinatal health. The obstetric area includes delivery units, postpartum wards, specialized maternal care, and ultrasound services in both Lund and Malmö. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at SUS is one of the three largest maternity care providers in Sweden. The postpartum ward in Lund is a highly specialized unit for pre- and postnatal care. We receive patients from throughout southern Sweden who have experienced complications during their pregnancy from week 22+0 onwards. We work closely with the Delivery Unit, Neonatal Unit, and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The postpartum ward has 26 care beds: eight for pregnant women with complications and 18 for postpartum patients with complications or whose infants are being cared for in the neonatal unit. Adjacent to the ward are a follow-up clinic and a breastfeeding clinic. In autumn 2023, we launched home birth services. 2 position(s). JOB DUTIES We are now seeking a midwife who will rotate between the postpartum ward and home birth services. The unit consists of physicians, midwives, pediatric nurses, nurses, and nursing assistants working together around the patient. We are organized into teams, with each team composed of a midwife or nurse and a nursing assistant who share responsibility for their patients. On the postpartum ward, we handle both complex and less complex cases, involving both pregnancy complications and postpartum care. We also care for patients scheduled for planned cesarean sections and pregnant women beginning labor induction. We use TimeCare for scheduling. We are committed to development and therefore offer continuous professional training, in which you will participate. Together, we work toward our operational goals and provide excellent care for our patients. As a new team member, you will participate in our orientation program. Subsequently, your work will include rotation between the postpartum ward and home birth services to follow patients through the care pathway, providing an excellent opportunity to broaden your competency. QUALIFICATIONS We are seeking a licensed midwife with authorization to practice within Swedish healthcare. Swedish language proficiency at minimum level C1 according to the Council of Europe scale is required. It is advantageous if you have experience in maternal care, delivery care, or postpartum care.
