Introduction
Would you like a meaningful part-time job where you make a real difference in a child's life – and have the flexibility to work when needed? We are now seeking flexible hourly substitutes for a cheerful and curious 18-month-old boy. He was born with a weakened airway and therefore breathes through a small tube in his throat. Otherwise, he is an active and mischievous child with lots of energy and great curiosity about the world! You can choose to work during the day, at night, or a combination of both, depending on what fits your life situation. However, it is important that you can step in with relatively short notice, sometimes the same day or the day before. We are therefore looking for someone whose daily life actually allows for this kind of flexibility.
Job Information
Professionals Nord is seeking flexible hourly substitutes on behalf of Novum Assistans for an assistance assignment in Luleå. The position involves working as needed and is suitable for, for example, someone who studies, works part-time, or has a flexible daily routine in another way.
You can choose to work:
Day shift (7 AM–4 PM)
Night shift (9 PM–7 AM)
or a combination of both
Work is always done with two staff members, meaning you always work together with a colleague.
All new assistants receive thorough introduction and training before working independently.
The workplace is in the boy's home, a newly renovated house in Luleå with good bus connections and excellent conditions for a pleasant work environment. The family's dog also lives in the home.
Job Responsibilities
Day Shift
As a day assistant, you are an active part of the boy's daily life. Days are filled with play, movement, and discovery – reading books, singing songs, building towers that fall down, and chasing little feet across the living room floor.
You also help with things that come with caring for a toddler, such as:
changing diapers
dressing and undressing
preparing snacks
supporting play and development
At the same time, you and your colleague are responsible for supervision related to his breathing.
Night Shift
It is an awake night with two staff members, meaning you always work together with a colleague. During the night, your main task is to watch over the boy while he sleeps to ensure he sleeps safely and securely. This means monitoring his breathing and being close by if he wakes up and needs comfort. The boy usually sleeps through the whole night, which means night shifts are often calm – while your attention is always important.
We are Looking for Someone Who
You are a person who enjoys spending time with young children and wants a job where you can make a real difference in a small person's life. You are calm, responsible, and good at combining playfulness with attentiveness.
You are also flexible and understand that an hourly substitute position means work shifts are sometimes offered with short notice. For example, you might need to step in the same day or the day before. Therefore, you need to have a daily life where this kind of flexibility works, and feel that you have the ability to step up when needed.
You don't need previous experience – all training is provided on-site – but experience with children or work in care and support is a plus.
