Child Welfare Case Worker - Foster Care Unit

The Foster Care Unit is part of the Children and Youth Operations area within the Social Services Administration in Järfälla. We're a committed team of foster care coordinators and child welfare case workers, many with over 15 years of experience in social work with children and young people. In our various roles, we work side by side on all matters concerning foster children and young people, contact activities, and family contact support. We're a well-functioning work group with a pleasant and positive work environment, and most importantly, we do excellent work with children always at the center. We maintain close collaboration with colleagues in other operational areas and have access to extensive in-house open care services. We're currently engaged in exciting development work together with open care services. Our goal is to increase the conditions for sustainable placements in our fee-paid foster homes by providing enhanced support to foster families and children. This support includes interaction support when the child is first placed, structured supervision throughout the placement, and crisis support as needed. Järfälla is growing, and we need to grow too! We're therefore seeking new colleagues who want to make a difference and create good conditions for foster children. 1 position(s). DUTIES We work based on the tripartite parental responsibility model formed by social services, foster families, and biological parents. Social services holds overall responsibility and has the important task of establishing good cooperation that benefits the child. As a child welfare case worker, you are the child's own social worker, and your assignment is to follow the care and ensure the child's needs are met in the best way possible. You'll work together with the child's foster care coordinator and in close collaboration with parents, foster families, and the child's other biological and professional networks. With the child in focus, you conduct follow-ups and reviews of care, assess the child's needs, and monitor any open care interventions. You'll receive close supervision from one of our two team leaders who together oversee the unit's 10 case workers. Within the unit, there are also foster care coordinators who recruit, assess, support, and train foster families, contact persons, and contact families, as well as our placement coordinator, a role that handles all tasks related to procuring external service providers. The placement coordinator is our expert in quickly finding emergency placements and knows everything about our framework agreements. Our case management and documentation system is Lifecare, and all work is conducted according to BBiC principles. As an employee, we offer you numerous benefits. Formally, you need a degree in social work and preferably a few years of experience in authority-based social services work with children and/or young people. It's advantageous if you've previously worked as a child welfare case worker or foster care coordinator in foster care services. You're well-versed in applicable legislation and BBiC. If you have experience with Signs of Safety and MI and appreciate working according to these approaches and tools, we see that as a strength. You communicate well in speech and writing and can adapt your communication to what the situation requires. Since the work often involves meeting people in crisis and/or with complex life situations, it's important that you can see possibilities, convey hope, and treat people with respect. You're organized, stable, and have the ability to understand others' perspectives and situations without absorbing their emotions. You value collaboration and understand the authority role.
