We are now looking for a child welfare officer who wants to help us continue developing our foster care services. Our department works to strengthen people's opportunities for independent living through; support and services for children, young people and adults, promoting adult learning and working to make people self-supporting. The activities include individual and family care, employment, integration and adult education, and are organized in three processes: Self-Support, A Safe and Healthy Life and Safe Children in Safe Families, as well as the Navigator Center unit which serves as a unified entrance to the entire department. The position is placed in the Family Unit within the Safe Children in Safe Families process. Here we work with authority functions for children and young people, where social workers, child welfare officers and foster care secretaries collaborate to ensure safe and good living conditions for Kristinehamn's children. The unit is led by two unit managers and supported by team leaders and social administrators. The entire unit is located together with our open care and other authority functions within the Department in our new beautiful municipal building, in premises that promote collaboration and well-being where offices are activity-based. DUTIES As a child welfare officer, you have a central role in ensuring that placed children and young people's needs are met and their rights are protected. This includes primarily placements in foster homes, but also certain institutional placements. Your work is based on creating trusting relationships with both the child or young person, guardians and their network. You work closely with foster care secretaries, who provide support and guidance to foster families, as well as with other important actors such as schools, health care, child psychiatry and other parts of social services. Through regular meetings with the child or young person, you work to ensure they are involved in their own care, understand why they are placed and feel safe in their situation. An important part of the assignment is to ensure that the child can maintain and develop relationships with their parents and other significant people. In this role, you are responsible for ongoing documentation, conduct reviews and reassessments of care, and handle investigations that arise during the placement period. You also conduct safety assessments when needed. All case handling is carried out according to BBIC, the Signs of Safety approach and with support from the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act with Special Provisions on Care of Young People (LVU). The position also includes participating in the handling of acute situations if needed. Travel occurs regularly. QUALIFICATIONS Formal qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or equivalent social work qualification (requirement) • Category B driving license (requirement) • Several years of work experience in social work (meritorious) • Experience of authority functions within social services work with children and young people (meritorious) • Knowledge of and experience with the Signs of Safety approach (meritorious) Personal competencies: We are looking for someone with personal maturity and a professional approach.
