Welcome to Us Bandhagens School is now seeking a skilled teacher for our after-school program in our adapted primary school. The school has approximately 430 students and approximately 110 staff members. We accept students from preschool class through grade 6 in primary school. We also accept students from grades 1–6 in adapted primary school as well as preschool class students who are being prepared for adapted primary school. We have after-school programs for preschool–3rd grade in primary school and preschool–6th grade in adapted primary school, and we also offer an after-school club for grades 4–6 in primary school. Bandhagens School is located in an area in Bandhagen that offers alternative working methods as we are close to natural areas and a play park with animals. Your Role As a teacher in the after-school program, you will work together with other certified after-school teachers to ensure that instruction in the after-school program is designed in accordance with school law, the curriculum, and other national and municipal governing documents. In the after-school program, you and your colleagues offer students meaningful free time by taking the students' needs, interests, and experiences as a starting point, while also continuously challenging students further and inspiring new discoveries. In your teaching, you work to promote students' imagination, empathy, and ability to learn together with others through play, movement, and creative expression using aesthetic forms of expression as well as exploratory and practical working methods. The assignment also involves supporting students in the adapted primary school throughout the school day and performing various tasks in learning situations with the student, in collaboration with student assistants and teachers. You will also collaborate with the Student Support Team and with other staff at the school. The work aims to enable students to develop, to the extent possible and based on their own circumstances, in accordance with the goals of the education. Your Competence and Experience We are looking for you who are a certified teacher in after-school programs. Previous experience working in adapted primary school, working with people with intellectual disabilities, and working in after-school programs is meritorious. You should have good knowledge of autism. It is also meritorious if you have training or experience working with alternative and augmentative communication, for example sign language such as AAC, (TAKK), PECS, have knowledge and/or experience working with applied behavior analysis (ABA), and have knowledge and/or experience working with clarifying pedagogy. You are professional, have good judgment, and can set boundaries. You are empathetic and use a low-affect approach when interacting with students. The work requires that you have patience and can adapt your communication and approach based on the situation. You are secure, build trust, and understand the importance of being a positive adult role model. You can work independently and take initiative. You are good at collaborating with colleagues. You are flexible. In your interaction with students and parents, you are clear and attentive to students' needs. You have a good ability to express yourself in Swedish both orally and in writing.
