About the Assignment We are seeking a consultant for our client's team responsible for developing checkout solutions in retail stores. The role involves creating a frictionless and seamless customer experience where the purchase process feels fast, simple, and intuitive – regardless of the checkout channel. The team is characterized by a strong collaborative culture where knowledge sharing and collective problem-solving are prioritized. There is an active focus on automating repetitive tasks to free up time for value-creating work. Ownership of deliverables and products is central, and innovation is encouraged through continuous testing, evaluation, and learning. Work is conducted in a hybrid format where the team typically works from the office 2–3 days per week. Given the need for effective onboarding, the consultant is expected to be on-site more frequently initially, and as needed going forward – in line with the team's and business needs. Who Are We Looking For? We are seeking a senior developer with strong technical expertise and the ability to translate requirements and solution design into robust and scalable implementations. You have extensive experience developing REST APIs in modern .NET and are comfortable working with SQL databases using EF Core. You have experience with distributed caching, such as Redis, and solid knowledge of API Management (e.g., WSO2) and authentication/authorization with OAuth 2.0. You are familiar with asynchronous and event-driven architectures and have worked with message-based integration patterns, such as Azure Service Bus and/or Kafka. Further, you have experience with: Implementing complete solutions from requirements and design to finished delivery Building automated tests that ensure quality and verify that the solution meets requirements Working with systems that have high demands for performance, throughput, and availability Developing and maintaining solutions in container-based environments Building and operating cloud-based solutions, primarily in Azure Working with microservices architecture and version control in Git Handling DevOps-related tasks such as CI/CD You are comfortable working agile and thrive in teams where collaboration, quality, and continuous improvement are in focus. You have experience working in cross-functional teams alongside Product Owners, UX, and Design. As a Person You have a senior mindset. You enjoy learning new things and readily share your knowledge with others. You do not compromise on quality and strive to write clean, well-structured, and testable code. You value transparency and clear communication, and see overcommunicating when needed as a given. You are interested in improving dialogue with customers and the business – identifying problems, understanding needs, and ensuring the right solutions are developed. You are curious about new technologies and actively work to stay at the forefront of your professional development. You have a good understanding of complex systems and development environments, and take responsibility for the overall quality of solutions you help build.
