JOB RESPONSIBILITIES A respite care substitute is a person who temporarily takes over the care or supervision of a person with a disability or illness, giving family members the opportunity to rest, have personal time, or take care of errands. This is a service provided under LSS (The Act Concerning Support and Services for Persons with Certain Disabilities) or sometimes under the Social Services Act. Job responsibilities may include: • Spending time with the child or adult in their home or in the local area. • Engaging in activities and socializing, for example through play, games, walks, or other interests. • Providing relief to family members for a few hours per week or month. As a respite care substitute, you plan your work in consultation with the person you are supporting and their family. You work independently, creating a safe and meaningful experience for the person you meet, while providing valuable relief to their family members. QUALIFICATIONS To be considered as a respite care substitute, you must have: • previous experience working with children with NPF diagnosis • experience with low-affect interactions It is desirable if you: • have experience working with people with functional variations • have knowledge of various diagnoses covered by LSS • have education in areas related to autism spectrum disorder or other specific diagnoses • have training in low-affect interactions As a person, you are responsive, flexible, responsible, and humble. You have a strong ability to understand and empathize with other people's situations and identify their current needs. You need to have good planning skills and be engaged, seeing opportunities rather than limitations. Great emphasis is placed on the personal qualities required for this particular assignment. Individual matching is done for each assignment based on the individual's wishes and needs. You are fluent in Swedish both spoken and written.
