Your responsibilities As department head, you are ultimately responsible for the Environmental Department's operations and work closely with your unit managers to drive and develop the activities. You report directly to the Urban Development Director and are an important part of the administration's management group. In collaboration with other department and staff heads in the administration, you will work on strategically important cross-administrative management issues. The assignment also includes close dialogue with elected officials and cooperation with other authorities and municipalities. Your workplace The Environmental Department is part of the Environment and Urban Development Administration within Linköping Municipality. The department is led by you as department head and is organized around five areas: environmental protection, health protection, food, climate, and departmental support, each led by a unit manager. Within the climate unit, the administration conducts strategic environmental work on behalf of the Urban Development Board. On behalf of the Building and Environment Board, the Environmental Department oversees environmental protection, health protection and food matters in accordance with applicable legislation. The Environmental Department also provides businesses and the public with advice, guidance and information on climate, environmental, health protection and food matters. The Environmental Department has approximately 60 dedicated employees. About you You have an academic degree with a specialization relevant to the position. We are looking for someone with several years of leadership experience and who has previously managed other managers. You have relevant knowledge within the environmental field and its laws and regulations. We welcome experience with regulatory work and operating within a politically governed organization. We are looking for a leader who is strategic, committed and courageous. You focus on the bigger picture and create participation through dialogue with your surroundings and through your ability to delegate. You are driven by a desire to see opportunities for improvement and through previous experience and environmental monitoring, you bring new perspectives to the operations. You have the ability to inspire, create job satisfaction and a good collaborative climate while being decisive and clear when needed. You have an unpretentious leadership style and approach where you challenge your surroundings to dare to think differently to develop the operations.
