About the role
The Department for Knowledge Management in Social Services at the National Board of Health and Welfare develops and revises guidance and knowledge support within social services regarding children and youth, disabilities, and elderly care based on the best available knowledge. The department works to support and contribute to quality development and ensure knowledge-based social services in line with evidence-based practice and legislation. The department is also responsible for work with the National Center of Excellence for Elderly Care and the newly established National Center of Excellence for Intellectual Disabilities and Autism.
The development of social services takes place in collaboration with several other actors where, for example, the Partnership with SKR, the regional support structures (RSS), and cooperation with Yrkesresan are part of the department's work.
Your responsibilities as head
You are responsible for leading, coordinating, and developing the department, and your mission is to contribute to a sustainable, equitable, and equal social service based on the individual's needs. You will work close to the target groups and ensure that support developed is beneficial through knowledge of the current situation and needs of the target groups. The role also includes leading and developing the department's work on digitalization to create efficient and target group-adapted ways of working.
The department comprises approximately 70 employees and you lead the operation through 4 unit heads. You report to the Director of the Social Services Operations Area, work in close cooperation with the Department for Social Services at the System Level, and are part of the management group for the operations area. As a department head, you are also part of the authority's strategic management group led by the Director General.

We are looking for you who have
an academic degree that the National Board of Health and Welfare considers relevant
flerårig aktuell chefserfarenhet (several years of current managerial experience)
experience leading other managers
documented experience of successfully driving systematic change and development work
very good knowledge of the entire social services field
good knowledge of and understanding for state governance
several years of current knowledge of cooperation with municipalities, regions, authorities, and other actors
strong ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish and English.
It is meritorious if you have
good knowledge of knowledge management within social services
experience in national and international representation.
Good to know
The position is a permanent full-time employment and begins with a six-month probationary period. Your placement is at the National Board of Health and Welfare's head office in Stockholm. In spring 2027, the authority is moving to newly renovated facilities in Solna strand. Remote work is possible according to the authority's guidelines.
The position is placed in a security classification and a security clearance with criminal record check will be conducted before an employment decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen, but may have a foreign background.
