The Culture and Education Department aims to offer the education, care, and inspiration that our young and adult citizens need through different life stages. The Culture and Education Department consists of two divisions—the School Division and the Preschool, Culture and Recreation Division. The School Division includes all school forms from preschool class through adult education and student health services. The Preschool Division encompasses all municipal preschools and family daycare providers, while Culture and Recreation includes the library, culture school, and youth recreation. Job Description As department head of the School Division, you work on behalf of the department director within the Culture and Education Department to lead, coordinate, develop, and follow up on operations in accordance with the department's overall mission and goals. You lead the School Division's management team, which is characterized by a culture of courage, collaboration, and shared responsibility. Your task is to clearly lead and drive continued development work within the school sector, where quality and goal achievement are in focus. The role requires experienced, engaged, and development-oriented leadership where you create conditions for principals and operations to achieve good results. Already today, we need to meet tomorrow's needs and conditions, which places high demands on development within competency supply, digitalization, and trust-based management. In this role, you therefore need to combine long-term thinking and strategic ability in the department director's management team with present, engaged leadership and a good understanding of daily operations. You create engagement, participation, and shared direction while having the courage to prioritize, make decisions, and drive change over time. Qualifications We are looking for someone who has appropriate higher education for the role. has worked as a principal in two or more operations. has completed principal training. is experienced in leading through change and has operations-focused leadership. can express yourself well in speech and writing. has a valid driver's license (B category). has experience leading other managers (advantageous).
