DEC Marine is based in Gothenburg and is a leading supplier of exhaust gas cleaning solutions in the marine sector to reduce nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions, harmful particles, and high noise levels. Our solutions are based on SCR technology (Selective Catalytic Reduction), advanced particle filters, and sound-dampening systems. Would you like to work with advanced automation where your expertise contributes to a more sustainable future? At DEC Marine, you have the opportunity to develop innovative control and automation solutions that help our customers reduce their environmental impact. As part of our complete delivery, we develop and deliver automation systems to the marine sector, as well as mission-critical land-based infrastructure – operations where operational reliability, quality, and technical innovation are crucial. Through our technology, we contribute to safer, smarter, and more sustainable facilities, both at sea and on land. We are in an exciting growth phase and are now seeking an automation engineer who wants to be part of developing the automation solutions of the future together with us.
About the role
As an Automation Engineer at DEC Marine, you will become a key person in our development and customer projects. You will work throughout the entire project lifecycle – from requirements definition and system design to programming, testing, commissioning, and further development. You will work on technically advanced projects where no two solutions are alike. Our systems are currently used mainly onboard ships, but we see great opportunities to grow within land-based mission-critical operations where high availability and safe operation are essential. With us, you get significant responsibility, short decision-making paths, and good opportunities to influence both technical solutions and the company's continued development.
Your responsibilities
Develop and program PLC, HMI, and SCADA solutions.
Prepare functional specifications and technical solutions for new products and customer projects.
Program, test, and verify automation systems.
Participate in commissioning and startup at customer sites in both marine and land-based facilities.
Collaborate closely with customers, project managers, and other technical departments throughout the project execution.
Contribute to the development of future sustainable automation solutions.
Who are you?
We are looking for someone with a genuine interest in technology and who enjoys solving complex technical challenges. You are used to taking responsibility, work in a structured manner, and appreciate working in an environment where you have great influence and opportunity to develop. As a person, you are curious, solution-oriented, and unpretentious. You enjoy collaborating, but also work independently and drive your tasks forward.
We believe you have:
A degree in engineering or a degree in automation, electrical engineering, marine technology, or equivalent.
At least 3–5 years of experience with automation and PLC programming (We currently use Phoenix Contact PLC systems).
Experience with HMI and SCADA systems.
Knowledge of industrial IT and process automation.
Experience with data collection systems and databases.
Knowledge of electrical design, CAD (Elprocad or AutoCAD), and P&ID.
Experience from the process industry, water/wastewater sector, or the marine industry is advantageous.
Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
We offer
At DEC Marine, you become part of a committed technology company where innovation, sustainability, and collaboration are central. We offer a work environment where you get to work with advanced technology while contributing to a more sustainable society.
With us, you get:
Work with technology that helps reduce our customers' climate impact and meet regulatory requirements.
Participate in varied projects in shipping and land-based mission-critical infrastructure.
A developing role with great freedom and opportunity to influence.
Short decision-making paths and an entrepreneurial approach.
